Re: The Van Persie Thread
I consider myself to be pretty optimistic as well, and I think we can win something with or without Van Persie. I'm disappointed that that's where it looks like he's heading. It's one of the worst things he could do if he signs for them.

Re: The Van Persie Thread
With Arsenal's new additions this summer, this is the first season in quite some time that I can compare our squad to Man Utd's and see no vast gap between our depth and pool of talent and theirs. Van Persie signing for them will have little to do with more chance of winning trophies and more to do with a bigger pay packet each week. I'll be glad to see the back of him regardless of where he goes.

Re: The Van Persie Thread
If we sell him to United I'll be very disappointed. Yes, we finished far off them in the league last year, and had the 8-2 drubbing at Old Trafford, but I really don't think their squad is much/any better than ours. The main difference I would say is the mentality there vs in our squad - they expect/demand to win, and that is the key.
I don't think him going there would drastically improve them - they already have a good selection of strikers in Rooney/Welbeck/Chicarito, their issue is the midfield.

Re: The Van Persie Thread
I just cannot see Wenger selling him to man u....it's not like we need the money..
I think he will be apart of the squad...if he stays use him...then if he still wants to walk
Flog him.

IMHO if Van Persie goes to Man U I would like to see us bring in Welbeck, or at the least chicharito if man u are SOOOO desperate to sign him

Re: The Van Persie Thread
Not gonna lie, thinking of seeing RvP in a Man Utd jersey makes me feel a bit sick. For so long I truly believed he was Arsenal through and through. How Wenger developed him, stuck with him through every injury, and made him our Captain - I honestly thought he'd show loyalty to the Arsenal. Though it was hard to accept him wanting to move on I could understand, at the time, in a small way his desire. But again I placed too much faith in some shred of loyalty he owed Arsenal, and I thought "No way he'd stay in the Premier League, he wouldn't do that to us fans." Cesc was understandable, Nasri was a money whoring tool (big deal), but this... if this happened.. would really truly hurt.

Re: The Van Persie Thread
If we sell to united I will be seething in anger....united just sum up everything a club should not be....they have been successful but at what price...hated by all, poached players with a non logical and ill thought out transfer policy of letting teams do the hard work and then chucking shit loads of money at the player to get them to sign...cannot remember the last time a player left united on good terms...a bully of epic proportions,
The club I hope falls into oblivion with its float on the stock exchange....Ferguson is nothing but a charlatan..and a pig ignorant one at that,Ferguson is great!?? At what exactly...
Does he find quality players? No
Does he help look after the well being of the club..no
Will he leave behind a team that can carry on as he leaves off..no
Just shows you how blinkered the club is...the world is in financial problems and they want to float on the one thing that could very well sink them.....
If robin leaves he will in my eyes slot straight into the whole frankly disgusting machine that Manchester united is..all that love and enjoyment will have instantly dissolved...
Don't do it robin...

Cmon let's be a bit objective here. Ferguson is a fantastic manager, better than Wenger for me at least. What is he great at? Winning trophies perhaps?? He has what 32, 33 major trohpies?? I doubt Wenger will ever have that.

Re: The Van Persie Thread
Can't believe Robon would even consider this move to United, two years ago if you asked me if any of our players was arsenal through and through, Robin would have been the first to come to mind. What makes it worse is that, for me, player for player, I dont believe they're better than us right now!! Really hope RVP re-evaluates this decision and realizes what a shit storm he could cause for himself! To think he was just a few years away from legendary status, now he's fucked it all away!

I could sit here and type all night at exactly what Ferguson does not do for united...how many players do you see them go or in windows for one...it's like we want this this this that that that it's almost looking at it like 'right 8 strikers we like let's get what one we can drill into them the united way..if it works..it works..if not fuck them off call them shit cause a problem job done'.....backroom staff, directors, and co do more for the club than he does....
How many flops have gone thru united's doors??? Plenty is the answer...

It doesn't matter, his job is to win and that is what he does best. Would you be questioning him if he were to be our manager and had overseen 20 years of dominance.

See as Arsenal fans we've lost our way now. We'd much rather have a clean balance sheet than have trophies. This is football, trophies is what matters the most. This is not to say I like Ferguson but can you envision United winning the title so many times especially given the squad they've had in the past 4-5 years.
Re: The Van Persie Thread
Sorry for the interuption but, I am new here.
Regarding Ferguson... to hell with United, City, PSG, Chelsea and all the other deep pocketed teams. Anyone can bring home trophies with an unlimited budget. I have grown up watching serie A as an Inter fan, the truly brilliant teams to watch are the ones that have been put together thoughtfully, not haphazzardly as Foster pointed out. Wenger has always been brilliant at taking players with unseen potential and transforming them into leaders. No one would have known who Henry was, had it not been for Wenger. A mediocre Juve winger is the stuff Legends are made of.
Regarding Van Persie, let him Buggar off as well. He should be greatful, before arsenal he was a nobody. He has had one brilliant season and the whole world is set a blaze. Arsenal will be better off once he is sold and they use the liquidity to invest in another player with potential. You don't need a Cavani, or any other "super star" for that matter. You should trust Wenger.
Again, sorry for the long winded post, but I am fairly new to actually caring about the premier league. I have loved Arsenal since the days of Bergkamp though!

Re: The Van Persie Thread
Putting the emotions to one side, which is harder now it is clear that United are the most likely move for him, I would prefer he stays at least one more season.
Right now, we have no idea whether Giroud and Podolski will fit in and be successful players at Arsenal. For all we know, they may be so good that we can still challenge without RVP. On the other, we may be in need of a top signing as striker, as neither are ready to lead the line.
We will have a much better view on this at the end of next season.
If RVP is moving really on the basis of ambition, then there is no better signing of ambition in giving up a 15m pound transfer fee to keep a player 1 more season.

I disagree. I have only been a fan for the past decade or so, but the reason I love arsenal is because of the style they play and the way they emphasize player development. I'm not one of those win at all costs kind of people. I like that wenger tries to maintain whatever "purity" is left and to me this is the best most proper way to win trophies and it's not like it's impossible either.
