Re: The Van Persie Thread
Am i the only one who thinks that if van persie stays he could have an even better season than the last one? I find myself remembering those games at the end of the season where he was missing chance after chance that he normaly put away. those games in FA and Carling Cup or whatever is where players like podolski and girourd could be invaluable in the upcoming season, The way its looking AW is gonna block the transfer, its from the daily mail but still i cant see wenger letting van persie go. If he stays the rotation can only help the stamina. It may be optimistic but with carzorla L-pod, girourd, a fairly healthy diaby (surprise of the preseason for me!!!) cant remember last time ive seen him walk on and off a pitch healthy. possibly sahin? and someone has made a bid for m'vila (hopefully not spuds) but IMO we are going to win trophy. signings like AOC and Gervinho from last season can only improve. Sorry im a bit excited to see what all this activity is gonna produce tomorrow!!!!

Wenger expects RVP to stay
Is this one of his sarcastic jokes? Like the day before the Cesc deal was finalised, he smirked and said he expects no one to leave?

Ben Fairthorne @BFairthorne
Don't shoot the messenger, but had lunch with an advisor of #Djourou and says #RVP and United done and trying to go through before Sat.

I very much doubt he had lunch with 'Djourou's advisor'.

To be fair though, a lot of journalists are reporting that RVP to United is pretty likely. Which is the worst possible outcome of this entire fucking saga.

I just cannot see him being sold to united......not my preference of him going there nothing like that at all.....just cannot see us doing business with united....
Selling to them will have such a kick in the bollocks effect to the rest of the team too...
Not far from destruction in my eyes....

I set up this graphic showing league positions of Arsenal v United since 1996.
Do you think RVP has a much better chance of silverware with United?

Re: The Van Persie Thread
With cities power available...it's blatantly obvious that United's days are coming to an end...
Ferguson won't be there for much longer...and let's face it a new manager won't have instant success and will prob buy and sell players as they see fit...and you could bet that the age van persie is he prob won't want to be wrapped up in a show where managers coming and going could risk his future there......

News just in....
Van persie has been dropped from the holland friendly...
Call it what you want....I see that as bad news.....
Fit but dropped, either he will be busy with talks...or wengers wants him kept close,

Re: The Van Persie Thread
Well, RVP was on the brink of being dropped due to lack of match fitness, but he promised the national team coach he would get 45 minutes in the Koln friendly.
He only got 20 minutes, and therefore has been dropped.

Ahhhhh...makes sense now...thanks for the update....but I will say this if he needs his fitness worked on you would have thought a 45 min stint in a useless friendly would have done him good....

Re: The Van Persie Thread
Its on Arsenal.com now. Really not sure what to think of all this. Just want it all sorted asap. I don't hate him for going to United like a lot of people seemingly do. I'm disappointed he's gone to a rival but I don't dislike the bloke.
I do think United are taking a punt though. £20m+ on a player with an injury history like RVP. As much as I like him, I can't see him having another season like he did last season.

Re: The Van Persie Thread
Just seen it'a been confirmed.Wow, what a glorious way to fuck up a legacy.
I bet he won't even win fuck all at united, don't rate their squad at all (and fuckit if thats just me being fickle). Anycase, this is a much better deal for us, I really hope we inbest that 20mil+ in the squad though.

Yeah its got to go back in Jason, M'Vila and maybe one other for me. And equally important is to now keep Song and Walcott. Maybe Wenger can promise some games in the middle now, or at least some rotation during games there...

Re: The Van Persie Thread
In a few years we'll look back and cite the departures of Fabregas and Nasri being more damaging than that of, say, Henry or Van Persie. Fabregas and Nasri left a quality gap in key positions. With Van Persie, Arsenal last season were close to one-man-team status… when he was taken out of the team there were periods where they looked clueless and impotent in attack. However, I think it will be similar to when Henry went. I don't think we'll have one 25 goal a season striker. The goal-scoring burden will be shared amongst Giroud, Cazorla (free kicks), Podolski, Walcott (if he stays) and whoever else feels like banging them in. Vermaelen. Fab and Nasri's exodus left us hurt, we've prepared for Van Persie's.
I don't wish Van Persie well. He's gone to United. A very real 90s/early 00's rival and lets not forget all the men v boys shit.
In the season just gone I didn't think he'd go, but it became inevitable. Arsenal have done what they have had to do. I will be more disappointed in the club, than in Van Persie, if this money doesn't go on key recruits - YES, we still need them despite the trident already transferred in.

Also, look on the bright side, just means we can chant Robin van Rapist next time we play United.
