Sort of meaning that can Persie might sign... Er, when he's old enough.
Re: Van Persie to Sign Arsenal Contract
I read that. I think he can provide some backup for our full back crisis. In a serious note, that can make Robin stay?

I reckon it would actually be a strong factor in keeping RVP here. If his kid was tied down to London, RVP does not seem the type of guy who would want to be away from his kid

I agree with that, but if we dont show any ambition in the transfer market, he may feel like he will only win silverware elsewhere. Whereas if his kid stays, then it will be a strong non-footballing reason to stay

I'd say he would go for Tottenham as VDV is there.

I don't think RVP would play for Tottenham unless they offered him a contract on par with CRonaldo, Yaya Toure, or Messi = never.Jonathan Prendergast wrote:Christopher Flanagan wrote:I don't think he wants to leave London if he can help it.

I'm sure you are just kidding, but I don't think those two get on anyway.

I am kidding. But, him and VDV are friends, and RVP previously encouraged Wenger to buy VDV, and last season when VDV started performing well, RVP said in the press that he regrets Arsenal did not buy him.
I am more pessimistic than most when it comes to RVP staying. There is no reason he would not sign a new contract now if he was intending to stay. He would immediately be on higher wages if he struck a new deal now, so every month he delays is lost money for him. Also, I don't buy the excuse of having to concentrate on football or not having enough time. Firstly, the agent does all the negotiating, and secondly, footballers wouldn't work more than 3-4 hours per day max.
So a Chelsea or Tottenham move, as little as it makes sense to us, is not out of the realms of possibility.

"Footballers don't work more than 3-4 hours max."
Not to be rude but how do you know this? I would think it more as we spent that much time in college preparimg for games. I have to think that they spend more time on training, pre/post physio room, and any extra training they might do after practice.

Re: Van Persie to Sign Arsenal Contract
Training is generally from 10 until 12 and then there might be another session of ninety minutes or two hours after lunch. Saying that they only work 3/4 hours a day is about right for most players.
Re: Van Persie to Sign Arsenal Contract
I hate to say it, but I'd leave if I was VP. We should half the ambition that he deserves.

Re: Van Persie to Sign Arsenal Contract
And if I was RVP I'd stay. Since neither of us actually are, that is utterly irrelevant.

If I was RVP Sr, I would say, I'll sign if we finish in the top 4. Good incentive for the club to get off their arses and make it happen.

Re: Van Persie to Sign Arsenal Contract
Arsenal defender Carl Jenkinson believes Robin van Persie is the perfect captain.
Van Persie has been in great form this season scoring 26 times in the top flight alone but the youngster insists it is not just the Dutchman’s goalscoring that makes him a good leader.
“With Robin being the skipper, if you have any problems or just need some advice then he is one of the first people I would go to,” he told he club’s official website.
“He is the perfect captain. He is approachable – which is very important – and he is open to opinions. He also leads by example on the pitch.
“If you are the captain of a club, you need to lead the way and show the way forward to everyone to follow. He definitely does that.
Jenkinson also revealed that he is enjoying learning the game off more experience players in his position, especially Per Mertesacker who he believes has been a great influence in the dressing room since arriving last August.
He added: “I am also quite close with Per [Mertesacker] - he is a defender and has been around the game a long time and has a lot of experience, so he often gives me little tips here and there.
“I know I can always go to him if I need to talk about something.”

Figured I'd put this here instead of starting a new thread. Van Persie signing a contract isn't just important to us on the pitch but off it too.

The guy looks 100% born to lead....
I have always looked at the decisions of henry and cesc being bad decisions for captain as they have more of an arrogant side to their character....
I know some people will be saying don't talk crap and so on but I belive it shows not just at arsenal but other teams to...
Less arrogance...always a benefit...
