Re: The Van Persie Thread
I still can't believe it. I can't picture him in a united shirt. If I had to place a bet on who retires with us 5 years ago I would have said RVP. Can't believe.
He is definitely the player I hate the most. Fucking dirty cunt. I hope he gets injured and misses the season then get transferred back to fucking holland.

Alan Dawson wrote:In a few years we'll look back and cite the departures of Fabregas and Nasri being more damaging than that of, say, Henry or Van Persie. Fabregas and Nasri left a quality gap in key positions. With Van Persie, Arsenal last season were close to one-man-team status… when he was taken out of the team there were periods where they looked clueless and impotent in attack. However, I think it will be similar to when Henry went. I don't think we'll have one 25 goal a season striker. The goal-scoring burden will be shared amongst Giroud, Cazorla (free kicks), Podolski, Walcott (if he stays) and whoever else feels like banging them in. Vermaelen. Fab and Nasri's exodus left us hurt, we've prepared for Van Persie's.
I don't wish Van Persie well. He's gone to United. A very real 90s/early 00's rival and lets not forget all the men v boys shit.
In the season just gone I didn't think he'd go, but it became inevitable. Arsenal have done what they have had to do. I will be more disappointed in the club, than in Van Persie, if this money doesn't go on key recruits - YES, we still need them despite the trident already transferred in.
I think it was telling that so many players had left over the years quite smoothly, but the Cesc and Nasri transfers were anything but smooth. Adebayor, Toure, Henry, Hleb, Overmars, Petit...all part of the plan. But Wenger never planned for losing those 2, and desperately clung onto them until there was no other option.
But I think the RVP transfer is also a big deal. It's a statement. It's the equivalent of a tall boxer with more reach holding the smaller boxer at bay as he continually swings and misses. It's taking the piss out of us.

Re: The Van Persie Thread
Right...calmed down a little....
Let's put this into perspective....
24 million for a player who has had 1 good full season in 7,Injurie prone as a hospital of old timers,in his last year of contract ad topping 30....
At least we won't all be shitting bricks every time he gets tackled any more...
In return we have gained two quality and physical players up front and an outstanding attacking midfield player.....
Apart from him going to united...splendid business.....
Oh and robin....ya a cunt.

Re: The Van Persie Thread
This made me chuckle from a spurs forum...
He wont move to an english team, I just don't see it.
Can you see Arsenal looking any weaker than last season with the introduction of Podolski and Giroud and the departure of RVP?
Our squad is much better than theirs but last season they were lucky a lot.

Re: The Van Persie Thread
I remember a year or two back when somebody on the old facebook group was saying that RvP was a "legend". The consensus at that point was that is was way too soon to be throwing such words around, but now he's confirmed himself as a "legend"ary twat as far as I'm concerned.
Not horrible business for the reasons mentioned earlier (age, price, injury record, clearly wanting out) but it really does speak volumes about the gulf between the two clubs. I doubt United are able to offer him that much more money than we were, so for me this clearly does boil down to trophies. How can Arsenal expect to progress when our best players constantly vote with their feet?
At first I was furious but it just hurts more than anything at this point. Can't even imagine how Wenger feels.

Re: The Van Persie Thread
Regardless of the money or his injury record, we have yet again sold our best player in a summer and lost the best striker in the prem, to another prem club. It's always one step forward, one step back with this club, at any point are we going to move forward? Don't imagine for a second that UEFA are going to have the balls to enforce financial fair play either.
Yes our signings this summer have been good and mitigate the loss of RVP, but the signal we continue to send to other clubs and our own players is horrible

Haha, that's quality.
Fuck him, fuck it. Please just let us start the season with a comfortable win and one of the new boys getting on the score sheet, we need to move on and move on quick. And for fucks sake, reinvest some of that money.

Re: The Van Persie Thread
I'm the only one who thinks that everything that was planned for a long time?
I mean, the boss already knew that RvP was going to go, so I'm sure some of the players who have called for the team will come, have 2 days to the start of the league we have to wait and see what happens .
maybe Jovetic or Mirallas, Not There will be a great recruitment (monetarily speaking) but it will be to reinforce, you can also get some DM.
