"He is world class and I have supported him for his whole career. Our desire is to keep him" - Wenger
In between the lines, I sense Arsene's disappointment in Robin. Could also be a ploy to not let him go on the cheap.

Fairthorne saying that rvp is off to juve.
At least it's not one of the manchester clubs but still fuck you RVP.

Re: The Van Persie Thread
I have to say: there's hardly been a rush of clubs wanting to buy Van Persie publicly.
Clubs like Real and Barca and the rest are usually not shy about publicly stating they are chasing a player.
Is it possible that there is a lack of interest out there for him?

Whatever Fairthorne claimed this season has happened so far, i hope the M'Vila story is true. We all need to realize that lot of speculative gossip floats around, lot of agents b.s & it makes the headlines. As a fan I just dont know what to believe.
I love RVP as a player but the way he behaved this off season has left me heartbroken. I feel bad for Arsene cuz he left him in a very difficult position.

I am not sure about Barca but Real Madrid are stacked on the offensive front. I have a feeling maybe RVP's high wage demand, age, guaranteeing him a starting spot and Barca's debt might be a factor for that put off Barca. Although i've read that Barca are chasing Neymar.
I do believe few clubs are chasing him but they are not offering lot of money for him cuz of his current situation. Plus isnt Arsenal a super private club when it comes to player dealings? The only reason we found out about RVP bids being rejected was cuz they were really low valuation and the club PR team has to do something to increase his price tag.

Re: The Van Persie Thread
Of the clubs that are alleged to be interested in RvP, only Juventus actually need him. That's also why they might not get him - because it's the clubs that already have big squads packed with internationals in each position that want to be selfish and improve even more, and it's no problem for them because they live in a financially fantasy land.
Someone mentioned how Gago had hardly developed - it's not a surprise given that RM really didn't have much invested in him. After all, this is the club that had a triple Champions League-winning strike partnership in Raul and Morientes yet though, "meh let's get Ronaldo".
With clubs like RM, Chelsea and Manchester City (even to some extent Barcelona), the risk is put onto the players. Sure they want to play for a big club, but due to their financial resources, they can just chuck you on the side if they realise they don't need you. Some of the player dig their own graves by staying only for the money at these clubs, therefore wasting their talent and limited career time but guaranteeing their financial future. Clubs know that is likely to happen now.
We have the opposite problem in that we were aiming too low in the market for so long that the players who were unsurprisingly not good enough for us were not willing to sacrifice the wages which couldn't be matched elsewhere given their limited talent. The chickens really did come home to roost for a club that was complicit in the sales of players like Vieira, Pires and Campbell, whatever the justifications behind it. We're still paying the price for the instability and vacuum it caused.

Re: The Van Persie Thread
Juventus have played down their interest in Arsenal captain Robin van Persie because of the Gunners' demands.
The Serie A champions have been widely reported to be among the favourites to sign the 28-year-old forward after he declared his intention not to sign a new contract at the Emirates Stadium.
But Juventus director Giuseppe Marotta told Sky Sport Italia he did not see great value in the proposed deal.
"A top player is not only judged by how much he costs," said Marotta.
"It can also mean a player who costs less but on the pitch shows an absolute value.
"Van Persie is a great player but Arsenal do not intend to lose him. And you cannot indulge in a player if the owners don't want (to sell).
"Talk of our real interest in him seems excessive to me."
One Premier League player who is heading for Turin is Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba.
Marotta added: "Pogba? He arrives tonight and he will quickly take his medical, then we will sort out the details of his contract."
The 19-year-old Frenchman was accused of showing no respect to United after refusing to sign a new deal and opting to join Juve instead.

Re: The Van Persie Thread
Thierry Henry is hoping Robin van Persie will stay at Arsenal, but insists life will go on if his former team-mate leaves the Emirates Stadium.
Van Persie's long-term future in North London appears uncertain after he confirmed earlier this month that he will not be signing an extension to his contract, which expires next year.
Manchester City, Manchester United and Juventus are all keen on the striker, but no clubs have yet matched Arsenal's valuation of their captain.
Henry left Arsenal for Barcelona in 2007, before returning for a loan spell earlier this year, while the likes of Cesc Fabregas and Samir Nasri have also been high-profile departures from the club in recent seasons.
If the Netherlands international follows the lead of several of his former colleagues, Henry remains confident that the Gunners can still challenge for honours.
"We hope it stays, and that's the way it is," Henry told Sky Sports News.
"I don't know exactly what is happening but as an Arsenal fan I want him to stay.
"He is still an Arsenal player and the boss has to deal with it."
When asked about van Persie stating he will not sign a new contract, Henry replied:
"I've got nothing to say about that, you will not get me to be one of the guys talking about the club and the player.
"I just want Arsenal to do well. Robin will do what he will do and we'll see.
"When I left, everybody cried, but then the year after they went on a run of being eight points ahead. Everyone comes and goes."

Re: The Van Persie Thread
If United, City or Juventus truly wanted him, they would be willing to stump up the cash.
The signs are bad for him (RVP). He doesn't want to go to a club that don't truly see him as a starting player, and end up on the bench.

Considering what Juve is going through right now, I'm surprised they're still in the conversation.

Tayo Taiwo's agent believes there is already a deal between Juve and RVP, and 80% he will go there.

Re: The Van Persie Thread
Read on Arseblog this morning that Juve's manager might be getting into trouble for match fixing at his old club. If that's the case, they might be out of the running for RVP, and I really can't see the club selling to one of the Manchester duo unless it is for really, really, really good money.
He might have to do a U-Turn with this after all... I just hope the club continue playing hardball.

Re: The Van Persie Thread
If we end up getting Cazorla (seems very likely now), maybe Sahin, and M'Vila (Fairthorne still positive about it), he will end up saying that the club are now showing some ambition and he always loved the club so he will sign bla bla bla.

Yeah, kind of thought it would happen but it just seemed too surreal... Who knows, the Sahin and Cazorla signings still aren't official...

Its goal.com, the writer is speculating based on a couple of pics of RVP smiling. I would assume he's out, unless he's still here on 1st of Sept. Safer that way.

Wenger has made him look a bit silly with the coups he's made. Very happy with our signings so far but if we do manage one of Sahin & M'Vila or both - we'd be in a very very strong position to end the silverware draught.
