Re: Summer transfer window 2013
Higuain has already rejected two offers from other clubs, both of which were supposedly more appealing than ours. I think it's now just a matter of waiting for an announcement.

Couple of reports I had seen knocking about that we were the only choice for him....it's great to get a player in that wants us just as much we do him.....

I'm hopeful it will happen.
But could the video be from any time in the past few years?

Be interesting to see if we can yank Rooney or Suarez away......about time we took players rather than sell them....signal the end of you can take who you want and this is now our time...

Re: Summer transfer window 2013
Baby steps I think. First to sign a couple of top quality players would be great. Players that are starters, rather than adding fringe players who will hopefully become starters.
Then we can buy Rooney, Bale, Hazard and Suarez.

While we're at it, can we buy Messi and Ronaldo too?Jonathan Prendergast wrote:Baby steps I think. First to sign a couple of top quality players would be great. Players that are starters, rather than adding fringe players who will hopefully become starters.

I hear Zidane's itching to come out of retirement.

Also, I hear that we've had a 30 million pound bid for Suarez rejected.

It's all possible. Just need a couple of quality available players first. Then the world's our oyster.

Arsenal thinking of returning with higher offer after 30m bid rejected for Suarez....
It's ok slapping in these bids here and there.....but not one has accepted yet.......
Slightly worrying......

Re: Summer transfer window 2013
I had a feeling with the Higuain deal dragging on, that Arsenal may have other striking targets.
Suarez is detestable, but playing wise is almost exactly what we need. Someone that is 1000% determined, at all times, no matter how the game is going and who he has bitten. He just wants to score goals and win. Incredible mentality in that way. Hopefully could rub off on a few of our players.

I hear that Wenger may have put in the bid to send a message to Madrid, with the Higuain deal dragging on and all.

Re: Summer transfer window 2013
It's looking more and more likely that we won't be getting him.....considering we have ment to be in contact for some time over this transfer and he wants to leave Real....they now have a manager appointed....why is this still dragging on? And for real to come out and say today no bid has been made......this is either Real trying to find another buyer so they can push up the price of one of the best strikers available or it's absolute rubbish again.....
Really starting to think we won't be signing him...and its going to be the next rut down the ladder all over again....

Re: Summer transfer window 2013
I think this is just the Madrid/Barca way of being absolute cunts about selling one of their players. I'm sure the deal is close to happening, they are just doing whatever they can to hike the price up. We know he wants to come. His father, brother, cat have all come out and said that he is close to moving, and the fact that it's dragged on for so long without him coming out to deny it is good news for us.
I think the Suarez bid is an attempt by Arsenal to speeden up the Higuain deal, showing Madrid that we can and will look at other options. But I can't see the bid for Suarez being real because there's no way we can afford to risk so much money on such a liability of a player, who if he wants could force himself out of the club 6 months in by biting the fuck out of someone. Also, Suarez clearly doesn't want to stay in England, so for me it's not a 'real' bid in the sense that we don't want him.
This is obviously very frustrating, but we should try and take some comfort in knowing that Arsenal want Higuain, Higuain wants Arsenal, it's just a matter of time till the price haggling comes to an end.

Agree. I suspect Real have been the ones dragging their feet, unsure if a new coach may want to keep him, or who his striking replacement will be, and wondering if there is not other clubs that may bid for him.
I wonder if we bid for Suarez, or Arsenal just stared a rumour that they did. Or even they bid 15m pounds, but leaked to the press it was 30m pounds.

It better be bullshit, don't see how he wouldn't be a waste of money. Guy's on 100k at City as well, not sure he'd want much of a pay cut.
