Re: Summer transfer window 2013
When Real Madrid say they haven't received a bid for Higuain, I assume they are playing games, hoping Arsenal up their price or another club comes in. They may not have received a formal bid from Arsenal, but a price has been suggested.
It's lucky that it seems other clubs haven't come in. On the other hand, Real may keep him.
Anyway, I get the feeling we will hear good news soon, for someone at least.

Surprised bigger clubs weren't in for Mario Gomez. Great record.
Benteke has handed in a transfer request. Poor Villa. Huge potential!

Re: Summer transfer window 2013
Best to be pessimistic with transfers coming in right now - just be happy with how we've finally started offloading overpaid players from our expenses.
Like Jon said it may come, we just have to be prepared to wait until the final week of the transfer window for our recruitment to kick in. Sad to say, but it might be another long summer.

Is Gomez that much better than Giroud? I for one, wouldn't take him at ArsenalJonathan Prendergast wrote:Surprised bigger clubs weren't in for Mario Gomez. Great record.

Firstly, there is no reason they exclude each other. Squads win leagues, not first XI's.
I like Giroud and think he will improve and be an important part of the squad, but would he make the German national team? Would he score 75 goals in 115 game for Bayern, from ages of 23-27?
While they appear similar, I think they also have their differences.
I remember debating with a friend 18 months ago who was better, RVP or Gomez. I think he isn't considered as highly as he should because he is old fashioned and would never appear on the cover of the next FIFA game.

I like Gomez and was also a bit curious why bigger clubs weren't in for him. I wouldn't compare him to Giroud though, Gomez seems more of an old school poacher whilst Giroud is more rounded.

Chelsea signed Schwarzer on a free transfer. Decent keeper.

Yep, that's what I heard. This just better be about telling Madrid to stop fucking around, I don't want to see Suarez in an Arsenal jersey.

Agree. So often Wenger talks about personality being a key consideration in player purchases. I just can't imagine it.
I could imagine him going to Real or Chelsea though.

And the Daily Mail is reporting that we're planning a £25 million bid for Fabregas.

Fabregas-Yes please
Nani-Fuck no
Suarez-Mmmm good player but an absolute cunt who is unstable, I'd rather have someone who is slightly less talented but stable

Re: Summer transfer window 2013
Suarez will learn and mature. All players do.
And even if he does stupid things, whenever he does his talking on the pitch, he is fantastic. As fans we can take a bit of stick for his antics if he is scoring goals and winning us games.

Re: Summer transfer window 2013
Read this from Arseblog and found it rather amusing:
"In other news, a rather bonkers story from Marca, who carry a report from Onda Cero, saying that Atletico Madrid have agreed personal terms with Santi Cazorla, and that their owner, Miguel Ángel Gil Marín, is in London ready to negotiate with Arsenal about his transfer. Which is a bit unfortunate for him because there’s nobody in London to negotiate with, seeing as they’re all off on the tour."

Reminds me of that alan partridge episode:
Siobhan: Alan, I am not negotiating.
Alan: You may not be but I am.
Siobhan: Well then you’ll be negotiating on your own.
Alan: So be it.

Re: Summer transfer window 2013
Maybe that is why Higuain hasn't happened yet. Arsenal had 22m in mind. Real had 37m in mind. Hopefully they find a middle ground.
