Re: Player Contracts
Good news. Although I have a lot more belief in SZCZ, who I think can become one of the best keepers in the world.

Re: Player Contracts
Theo Walcott and Arsenal 'move towards contract resolution'
Theo Walcott’s contract stand-off with Arsenal has reportedly moved a step closer to reaching a resolution.
The England forward, whose current deal expires in the summer, was said to be demanding £100,000-per-week as well as the opportunity to play more often as a central striker.
Gunners boss Arsene Wenger was reluctant to offer any such guarantee and the board were only prepared to pay the 23-year-old £75,000-per-week.
However, according to Goal.com, both parties have now moved towards a compromise with Walcott lowering his wage demands to £90,000, and Wenger promising the former Southampton ace he will be given a fair crack as a centre forward.
In addition, the Gunners will reportedly up their contract offer to £80,000-per-week.
Both Juventus and Liverpool are said to be keen on Walcott, while Chelsea and Manchester City would also consider offering the winger a pre-contract in the new year.
Walcott’s failure to agree a new contract at the Emirates in the summer meant he was mainly used as a substitute in the early part of the season, but with injuries to Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Gervinho taking their toll, Wenger has been forced into deploying him more regularly in recent weeks.
The forward grabbed his latest goal in the 5-2 drubbing of Tottenham at the weekend, taking his tally to the season to nine in all competitions

Pretty sure only overseas clubs can agree a pre-contract with him in new year, not City/Chelsea, but I've read this 'closer to an agreement' story quite a lot in different places this morning so hopefully true.

Re: Player Contracts
Dennis Bergkamp says he’s confident that Arsenal can progress to the 4th round of the FA Cup, and that Arsenal’s future looks bright with the emergence of a talented group of British players.
Speaking to FA TV, the Dutch legend spoke about the likes of Jack Wilshere, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Kieran Gibbs, Carl Jenkinson and Aaron Ramsey, all of whom have signed new deals (without any fuss) in recent weeks.
“Well, it’s fantastic,” said Bergkamp. “It’s fantastic for Arsenal and for English football as well, that you can keep those players in your country and playing for the first team.
“I think that was the complaint all the time, when I played there anyway, there were too many foreigners and that it kept back the young players from coming through the system and into the first team.
“But this is a different thing, you’ve got an English club with a lot of young English talents committing themselves to the club. It’s just a matter of getting it all in the right place and you’ve got a fantastic future there.”
And on tomorrow night’s crucial FA Cup third round replay with Swansea, Dennis reckons if the Gunners can overcome the weight of expectation, they should go through.
“Looking back and playing a difficult away game, you get a result, then you can take them back.
“The problem now of course is that we’ve got them at home and we’ve got to beat them, but if you get through that thought there’s a big chance they can go further.”

Didn't want to start a new thread but it involves the contracts recently signed. I really hope one day soon we'll see Bergkamp on the bench on match days as a coach. My favourite player for us along with Donkey Adams.

Re: Player Contracts
We need to give Sagna, Rosicky, and Arteta new contracts. They are very important to our team right now, and even if they do become bit part players in the finals stages of their new contracts, they can still contribute a la Giggs and Scholes in the past few years and it's good to have people like that in the team.

Sagna, Arteta and Per as well.
Didn't Rosicky get an extension last season? Any way, I think we can let him leave if Oxlade Chamberlain moves from wing into midfield.

Re: Player Contracts
According to several web sites the following players are out of contract at the end of the season;
Sczcesny, Sagna, Fabianski, Rosicky, Cazorla, Chamakh.
I would bloody hope we are well under way speaking to Sczcesny, Cazorla and Sagna.
I would also be happy to see Fabianski and Rosicky sign on.
Chamakh however....

Wow, Cazorla and SZCZ end at the end of the season? Hard to believe. Does that mean Cazorla only signed a 2 year deal with us? I hope we get em locked in.

For Cazorla - http://www.arsenal.com/news/news-archive/arsenal-sign-spain-midfielder-santi-cazorla - it says 'long term contract a year ago. So would expect him to be under contract for this season and next.

Cazorla is on a four-year contract at the very least, and we sold Chamakh, he's not on loan at Palace.

Re: Player Contracts
Tomas Rosicky will reportedly be handed a one-year contract extension at Arsenal – if the injury-plagued midfielder plays 25 matches for the club this season.
The Czech international is in the final year of his contract with the Gunners, but it is believed the extension clause will be triggered if he reaches the mark this season.
The 33-year-old is currently the fourth longest-serving player at the club, after Nicklas Bendtner, Abou DIaby and Theo Walcott, after joining from Borussia Dortmund in 2006.
Rosicky has had to endure frustrating periods to his career at the Emirates, missing the whole of the 2008/09 season because of a hamstring tendon injury.
This season, however, he has already made 11 appearances for Arsene Wenger’s team, but missed the 1-0 defeat by Manchester United on Sunday because of illness.

No idea how true it is but I'd like to see it happen

Re: Player Contracts
Come on Tomas, only 14 more games to go. I remember Arsene using the words "We all love Rosicky" in an interview a month or two ago and it's true, who doesn't like him? The fans and even Ozil. Plus, he is a real option to have, he might not play all the games, but you can be sure he will play the big ones, and he did have a hand (or foot) in saving both the 2011-12 and 2012-13 seasons. As long as he is OK with, I am more than happy to give him one year contract extensions every year until he retires or decides to leave.

Re: Player Contracts
Szczesny szigns new deal
Arsenal have announced that Wojciech Szczesny has signed a new long-term deal with the club.
The Polish stopper has been rewarded for a string of excellent performances this season, and the back end of last, as he responded to being dropped by Arsene Wenger.
Szczesny said, “I am very pleased to have signed a new contract. Arsenal is like my family and I’m so happy to be committing my long-term future here. I’ve been at this Club for over seven years now and I’d just like to take the opportunity to thank everyone for their support towards me during my time here.
“Many people have given me amazing support since I arrived as a boy, people like Tony Roberts, who helped my development as a player from a young age.
“I’m so proud to be an Arsenal player and am looking forward to helping our Club towards success in the years to come.”
While Arsene Wenger was glad to have tied down the future of one of Europe’s top goalkeeper prospects, saying, “I have always believed he is an extremely talented player, with excellent reflexes and good mental strength. He continues to grow and improve all the time too, so he has the potential to be even better.
“He can be an important part of Arsenal Football Club for many years to come.”
Sometimes people forget how young he is, and at just 23 he’s got lots of room for improvement too. It’s good news in an otherwise tedious Interlull.
