He is. Believe.
Is he definately getting 140k? Everywhere I read says he is getting around 100k a week.

If Podolski is getting 140, then surely Captain Vantastic is worth 170-180?

Re: Podolski...again...
Why is 140k per week a big deal? That's like 7 million a year? That's peanuts for a quality player. You guys could never follow the nba or mlb... You'd die over those salaries!

Re: Podolski...again...
Get me Rvp! But when u read the article, mancini never mentions he wants to make a bid for him. Just admires the player and illiterates that Rvp will most likely stay at arsenal, which is a good thing to say. But knowing moneybag teams, they are probably slyly insinuating it in an indirect way.
Tabloids tho are stupid and just a way to sell papers. They should get done for deception!

Re: Podolski...again...
140k per week is way way too much. RVP earns 100k right now, maybe with his new contract he will earn around 130-140.. so podolski shoudl be at 80-90 max.

Surely 150k should be the min RvP gets? considering most big teams' best players are on even more than that and RvP could easily get 200k-250k if he went to the likes of city, madrid, barca, inter...
Im thinking, sell Squillaci and Denilson and take their salary, which should be about 80-90k, and add it to RvP's already 100k salary and we're sorted.

Yeah I really hope so but I doubt it. I doubt Wenger is going to sell more than 4 players although I would like to see all those leave : Arshavin, Park, Chamakh, Squillaci, Almunia, Fabianski, Denilson... At least.
I think one of Park/Chamakh will stay as a 3rd striker.

I'd rather have Afobe promoted to the first team.

football has changed. With his stature, and the current market, Podolski could get 100k easy. We have to offer a price we are happy with and one he is happy with too. Then we have to offer the likes of RVP accordingly. No way we have offered Podolski 140k a week though

I remember we thought it was 80k or something. But then he had a verbal fight in the street with someone and said it was actually 110k?
Anyway, us paying Podolski 140k per week is not impossible.

Why are we arguing about the wages? The club will pay him as they see fit, our job is to enjoy the performances he gives for us on the field.
Re: Podolski...again...
LUKAS PODOLSKI turned down a £40million offer from Russian club Anzhi Makhachkala in favour of joining Arsenal this summer.
Arsenal have agreed a £10.9m deal with Cologne for Podolski and the striker is set to sign a four-year contract worth £100,000 a week, which includes his signing-on fee.
But he could have earned double that amount by moving to Russia, as Anzhi were prepared to pay Podolski £40m over four years – £200,000 a week – to snub the Gunners.
Podolski’s Cologne contract, subsidised by sponsors, is worth £50,000 a week, but he was adamant that football and not money would dictate his decision on his future.
Arsenal defender Per Mertesacker has been selling the club to his Germany team-mate by text message. And it is understood Podolski set his heart on trying out the Premier League and working with Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger.
“Money is not the most important thing for me,” said Podolski. “What is crucial is the development of my game.”
He impressed Wenger in Cologne’s pre-season friendly against the Gunners last summer and the Frenchman has sent chief scout Steve Rowley on a number of missions to watch him ever since. Podolski has scored 16 goals in 22 club games this season and netted three times to help Germany qualify for Euro 2012.
Podolski was absent from Cologne training yesterday with a virus and is yet to speak publicly about Arsenal. But he did hint at his imminent departure by saying: “I will do my best until the end.”
Germany coach Joachim Low has backed Podolski to be a success in England, saying: “Four or five years ago I would have told Lukas that it was better for him to stay in Germany. Today the situation is different. Lukas has become more mature, he can take the step abroad now more easily.”
Despite a similarity to Robin van Persie, Arsenal are adamant Podolski is being signed to play with the Dutchman, rather than prepare for his departure.
Another German, Mario Gotze, would be Wenger’s ideal signing, but it may be the midfielder, rated at £35m, is now out of Arsenal’s price-range. Rennes’ midfielder Yann M’Vila, at £20m, is also an option.

Re: Podolski...again...
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has denied that the club have already done a deal for Cologne striker Lukas Podolski.
"If we sign a player we will inform you and at the moment we have not signed anybody," said the Frenchman.
"There's still no agreement. Podolski is a good player. I wouldn't deny that."

He would never admit it though, Podolski is in the bag, im completely confident of that.

He did end the interview saying, "We are interested in the best players in the world and he is one of them." followed by one his trademark "We have done it but I will deny it till you flip" smile.
Re: Podolski...again...
I'm sure we signed him. I Already feel optimistic about next season.. IF rvp signs too. The rest I don't really care :d

Re: Podolski...again...
100k per week sounds about right. If it was really 13 million euros then that is a fantastic bit of business
Re: Podolski...again...
It's really fantastic to get Podolski. I bought him in FIFa 2007 and his left foot was very sweet, just like Robin's. Sign Lukas, give RvP a contract, same for Rosicky, and we already look like a very very good team. If we sign Goetze then I would be the happiest man on earth and we can win the league.

I think signing Hazard will be a bit more likely than signing Goetze, but my sentiments exactly.

Re: Podolski...again...
Thing is, Podolski can play wide left and striker, why would we need someone else who can play wide as well (Hazard)? We're lacking in the creative midfield role, Rosicky is the only one who is doing it properly these days. Goetze would be perfect. That said, we don't know what Arsene has in mind for Jack and The Ox. Or will Lukas play as a striker with RvP behind him in the Bergkamp role? Who knows! I'm already excited about next season.
