Podolski deal almost done - but can he do it on a cold Tuesday night in Stoke?
Like the topic says, is he the answer? Or do we need a couple more experienced players apart from him?

Why do you think so highly of Stoke?
Re: Podolski deal almost done - but can he do it on a cold Tuesday night in Stoke?
He may not do it at stoke but if he can do it in almost all other games then fine by me.

He has the tools to score against any team in the Premier League.

Apparently, Wayne Rooney has never done it on a cold night in Stoke (correct me if I'm wrong, I heard that somewhere).
I think Podolski is a good addition to the team (provided he lives up to our expectations), but most certainly not enough.

What, the women in Stoke are not good enough for him?

Haha I love that saying.
Bayern can win the CL but can they do it on a cold Thursday night at Stoke?

I would love it if signing Podolski signalled a move back to 4-4-2, sadly, it wont be the case.

Didn't a British commentator actually questioned whether Messi could do it on a cold Tuesday night in Stoke?

WHY IS TUESDAY NIGHT SO IMPORTANT!?!?!
No, Podolski couldn't do it on a "cold Tuesday night in Stoke". He can't. But on a Wednesday, watch out! He's unstoppable!

Why do you want a return to 4-4-2?

because it really matters that a guy who will end up on over 60 goals this season whether or not he can 'do it' against Stoke

Putting in a good performance against Stoke on a rainy midweek night is the benchmark to true greatness.
You can win as many Champions League medals and Ballon d'or awards as you want, but if you can't do it up north then it's all meaningless.

It's a real small town attitude isn't it. Kinda like something Karl Pilkington would say if he was a football commentator.
But I love. I think it is one of the funniest things ever said in football. Especially if it was said seriously.

Unfortunately it was said seriously and even worse was when others took it seriously. It is sad when we are graced by the presence of one of the greatest players ever, idiots have to try and denigrate their special ability with comments like that

I think the only thing it denigrates is the person that said it.
I'm not sure Messi is worried about winning people over who are stupid enough to agree with it!

Yeah we're all using it as a joke. The kid is probably the best footballer to walk on this planet ever.

Haha, got to love the sense of humor in here. And I assume the commentator was saying it as a joke as well. Questioning messi's ability is equivalent to questioning your own sanity.

I'm going to bite and say its a completely fair statement to make. We all know Messi is a genius. But we've all seen first hand how negative tactics can affect even some of the most free flowing football we've played. Unfortunately we'll most likely never see Messi in the Premiership, but I'd love to see him out of his comfort zone on an English side, playing on a shit pitch, in the cold, on short rest...against a bunch of cavemen. Would be a great watch lol
