Cheers Vyom. That's fine, we often ask clubs not to disclose details of transfers, so this is perfectly alright.

At least Arsenal have class to let Cologne drive the public announcement versus Barca who went about prying our talismanic captain away in an utterly cuntish public fashion.

I hope we sign him for sure first, prior to worrying about him flopping.

Podolski Official Twitter

translates to "Hi folks, from the coming season I will play Arsenal FC. This change gives me the opportunity to ..."

BOOM. Goldi Poldi Hallelujahhh

The full post actually is this :

"Hi folks, from the coming season I will play Arsenal FC. This change gives me the opportunity to play at international level in a top European club. I chose not to FC, but for this great opportunity in my sporting career. The decision for this step is not easy for me because the first FC Köln, the city and the fans are very special for me. I'll wear the FC always in my heart. We must now concentrate all the forces together and focus exclusively on the league. Regards, Poldi"

Lukas Podolski is going to switch from 1. FC Cologne to English Premier League club FC Arsenal. This is what both clubs and the player have agreed on. Both sides agreed to maintain silence about transfer fee details. The player is transferred one year prior to his expiration of contract.

Claus Horstmann, executive board chairman, explained further: 'Lukas Podolski is a player of world class standing with a special relation to 1 .FC Cologne's fans and to the city. We are proud of the development Lukas Podolski has taken at 1.FC Cologne within the last years. From his early days at our youth squads, via his first competitive match for our professional team, through to a highly renowned Germany international. That's why we deeply regret his step, which is not a decision against FC but for the good of his own career. 1. FC Cologne were prepared to extend Lukas Podolski's contract on the basis of a competitive offer. Nonetheless, this early transfer decision offers scope and planning security for the next season. We will jump at this opportunity to reinvest these transfer earnings back into our team's quality and into the promotion of our youth squads. Lukas has helped the club in many difficult situations, Lukas has left a mark on 1. FC Cologne's reputation and we feel the need to thank him for numerous great football experiences at Cologne.'

Lukas Podolski on his transfer: 'The move to Arsenal provides a great opportunity for me to gain experience in international competitions at a European top club. I have made this decision not against FC Cologne but for this great opportunity and the good of my own individual development. This was not an easy decision for me at all, as 1. FC Cologne, our fans and the city are something special for me. I will always carry 1. FC Cologne in my heart. We need to pool our strengths now and have to be fully focussed on our survival in the Bundesliga.'

Although we knew it was a done deal, having it confirmed is euphoric!
Just have to buy podolski-shirt next season..
How long has it been since we bought a player with that talent? Guess he`s more proven than Arshavin!

Could be. I read somewhere that if Koln are to get relegated his release clause would go down to 5 mil or something, so it could be possible that we got him for around 10 mil or less.
