Arsenal v Stoke City
Sun 22nd Sep 13.30
Emirates Stadium
Well its back to our domestic ties after our 3 point wrap up against marseille...
We welcome back stoke for hopefully a spanking...the history is there for ramsey to put right i for one hope he delivers again!!!
There is no new team news as of yet and wenger's press conference is yet to be held...
players still out..
Santi Cazorla - ankle
Yaya Sanogo - back
Tomas Rosicky - hamstring
Lukas Podolski - hamstring
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain - knee
Mikel Arteta - thigh
Abou Diaby - knee
Arsenal have won all five Premier League matches against Stoke City at the Emirates Stadium.
Peter Crouch has scored seven Barclays Premier League goals against Arsenal; only against Blackburn ( has he been more prolific.
Stoke will be the fifth team Mark Hughes has coached in an away game against Arsenal in the Premier League, but he has lost all six previous visits to north London to play the Gunners.
Mathieu Flamini has been booked in both of his appearances for Arsenal in the Premier League this season.
Arsenal have scored all eight of their 2013-14 Premier League goals from open play, whereas two of Stoke’s three goals have come from set-plays.
Stoke have completed 79% of their passes in the Premier League this season; more than in any of the five Premier League seasons under Tony Pulis.
The Potters have also averaged more passes per game this season (397) than in any of the previous five Premier League seasons under Pulis.
Olivier Giroud is one of only nine players to score in his team’s opening four games of a Premier League season and the second Arsenal player after Jose Reyes in 2004-05.
All four of Giroud’s goals this season have come before half-time and all before the 24th minute.
Without Giroud’s goals this season Arsenal would still be seventh, only two points worse off than they are in reality.

Re: Arsenal v Stoke City
i guess the team will pretty much be the same one that went to marseille. sucks but thats the sad truth.
im hoping for giroud to put a brace into the back of the net and ramsey to keep up his fine and so sweet scoring run.
3-1 to arsenal.
i also noticed league cup is on the 25th. i really hope arsene plays the youngsters in this game bcos the fatigue from swansea and napoli will be a killer

Re: Arsenal v Stoke City
Ahead of Sunday’s clash with Mark Hughes orcs, Arsene Wenger has revealed that Mikel Arteta could return to the squad for the first time this season.
The Spaniard injured his thigh on the eve of the season but has finally recovered after five weeks on the sidelines.
Speaking to the press at London Colney this morning, the boss paid tribute to the midfielder’s importance:
“He is back in full training today. A decision will be made tomorrow morning. He is a leader. We are happy to have him back.”
Unfortunately, Arteta is the only player to have recovered from injury. The likes of Santi Cazorla, Yaya Sanogo, Abou Diaby, Tomas Rosicky, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Lukas Podolski remain unavailable.

I'll be at this game so hope we continue our good form I expect a similar squad from Marseille too, and then rest a few against West Brom in the League Cup before returning to a full team for Swansea/Napoli. The only problem is IF we lost the League Cup game with reserves/youth you'll have the media and the anti-Wenger lot moaning how he doesn't take it seriously etc knobbers. Don't think he'll have a choice but to rest people though. Nice to see Arteta will be back. I could see him on the bench against Stoke then playing against West Brom for fitness and game time.

Re: Arsenal v Stoke City
One back is still a positive, give him twenty minutes for Ramsey or Flamini - whoever needs the rest and ease Mikel back in.
Tough game this one, they made City look shoddy at times so we must make sure we are safe first and build from that solid base.
Its live on tele yayyyyyyyyyyy!

Re: Arsenal v Stoke City
Arteta, Monreal, Jenkinson and Vermaelen will all have a chance to get game time against West Brom in the Carling Cup.
So I expect the same starting XI as Marseille. But Wenger is impossible to predict, and tends to always make 1 change we don't expect.
Great intro up top by the way Michael. Interesting that the new coach has them instantly passing more and passing more accurately. I think if they are playing that way, more similar to our style, they can't beat us at our own game and hopefully it improves our chances. We will still obviously be tested at set pieces.

I think we will win 3-1. No changes from the team that beat Marseille. Mikel is always welcome back as he is one of our most handsome, I mean best players, but I think he will start on the bench and then start against West Brom.

Yes, Livershit lost and if we win, we can go top of the league and stay there, unless Tottenscum win with more goals.

Re: Arsenal v Stoke City
Like has been mentioned above, the team picks itself. Despite his great recovery, if Ramsey can score today, it'll put the demons of that tackle completely to rest. Stoke have started keeping the ball on the floor more than they did under Pulis. And if we are only 80% as efficient as we've been lately, we'll clean them up.
I predict a bold scoreline: 5-1 to us. Giroud and Walcott with braces, Ramsey to score the other.

Re: Arsenal v Stoke City
Exactly that.....stoke are playing decent football once again but to play us at our own game won't exactly pull of for them....I can see the goals flying in today..and for once if we could get some luck going our way in the few games coming create a nice lil early gap in the league...
Going for a straight 4-0 win for us......
Roll on game time!!!!!!
