We conceded in the fifth minute! A Superman striker couldn't have done anything about not conceding today.Meshaal wrote:Vanig Bostanian wrote:We didn't lack quality today, we lacked intelligence. Cavani wouldn't have prevented conceding those goals.
He would have scored two before Liverpool had even thought about scoring the first. By that point the Liverpool players would have been too deflated to score.

Re: Arsenal v Liverpool
Standard from the back 5, why are we suprised?
Giroud was great tonight and really unlucky not to score 2!
I actually really like Ramsey in that role, if it wasnt for sheer bad luck he would have prevented Hendersons goal with an excellent tackle, not somewhere you would see Arteta I dont think.

Wenger on Gibbs' injury: 'It's a thigh strain and that rules him out for the next three weeks'
So that's three more weeks of ultra santos in the team, wonderful...

I sure hope so, Santos was pure garbage today. His positioning was atrocious, and he severely limited our offensive effectiveness from the left flank. I look forward to the day he leaves Arsenal Football Club.

Fact we have no other option to play TV at leafy back....why play Santos every team we come up against will scream down that left side weakness...
Unless we sign someone....which will probably not happen...so TV it is...

Re: Arsenal v Liverpool
Santos is awful. A really bad player.
But Liverpool could have scored more when he was on the bench. Vermaelen, Mertesacker, Sagna, Szczesny - all garbage.
And Santos hasn't played much this season and yet our defence is getting worse.

Either that or Sagna/Jenkinson play together. I'm scared over what Bayern could do to Santos.

Re: Arsenal v Liverpool
Forget Bayern Stoke will destroy him first...Our defence could literally be made to look like "men against boys" against Stoke, im really disappointed in Mertesacker recently, he looked at the beginning of the season as if he'd settled in and would really improve this season, he hasnt been all that different than he was last season.

Re: Arsenal v Liverpool
Defensively: we suck
Suarez is an amazing player and pretty much unplayable right now, so he's going to make many defenses much better than ours look bad.
Both Liverpool goals were a comedy of errors.
What was scarier were the goals they should've scored.
Agger (?) has a free header off a set piece cleared off the line?
In the last 5 mins Vermaelen switches off, standing still , a pass played in from the wing and a Liverpool player storms into acres of free uncontested space? Wtf?
I think part of the problem is we obviously don't train to defend well enough and we don't have a defensively-minded midfielder.
Watch highlights of the Brighton's first goal, a free header (once again ) against our zonal marking. Diaby standing still ball watching. Ridiculous.

Re: Arsenal v Liverpool
Also , Santos. Never a defender.
Call him crap if you want, but this is all on Wenger and his stupid purchases.
Santos was never a defender. At Fenerbahce he was never even LISTED as a defender. He was a winger.
Brazilian wingbacks don't defend in the same way that the do in Europe, they go forward- see Rafael at Man U.
So Wenger, brings a Brazilian winger to a league he's unsuited for, to play for a club that uses a system he's unsuited for, expecting him to defend.
It would be like if we bought Stewart Downing as our starting LB and then got angry at him.
We play a 4-3-3 where the fullbacks are going to be exposed at times. Clichy looked shit playing LB for Arsenal, but he looks pretty good defending for City now.

We deserved everything we got with Andre Santos. If you panic buy on deadline day because you've done no real planning throughout the summer and your squad is weak then you deserve to get burned.

Agree with all that.
Except the last sentence. Clichy still looks like a deer in headlights most of the time.
