How is that relevant to Arsenal exactly?

I'm not saying it is, I'm just eradicating any hopes you all might be harboring of us getting him.
Re: 2012 Summer Transfers
Reports in Ukraine say Arsenal interested in Dynamo Kiev's Andrei Yarmolenko. Don't know much about him but grows to be a world beater on FM

Well, the release clause means that if a club offers 35m, they're forced to accept. It doesn't mean they can't accept lower offers.

Re: 2012 Summer Transfers
Question is do we really need him? We have had a horror season having so many starting defenders out plus all their back ups, it is highly unlikely we will have the same problems next season. Where will he play? He would be 3rd choice LB, 4th choice CB and although I dont know much about him, I was under the impression him playing DM was a bit like Song playing CB, ok in a crisis for a game or two, but cant rely on him for an extended period of time. Depth can't hurt, but I have a feeling a signing like this might disrupt the spirit of the team with at least one of our defenders getting seriously frustrated at a lack of playing time

Yeah, I know, it's the Daily Mail. I would love this to happen and it pisses me off that they tease us this way. Wouldn't it be great if for once this wasn't made up?

Ah and so it starts about 2 months earlier this time because we got Podolski. That sounds like a regurgitated story from last year

Do we got Podolski? Things certainly look that way, but... meh. I'll just be repeating myself.
And yeah, there's no way - NO WAY - we're going plop 25M on any one player.

That's not to say that I don't want that to happen, just that I don't think it will.

I think we were in for Mata for around that much. But Chelsea beat us on wages.

Many sources have confirmed that we had a bid of 30 mill turned down for Gotze in the summer, so there is a possibility of that happening.

And now the other side starts
City offer record pay deal to lure Van Persie
Duncan Castles Published: 11 March 2012
"ROBIN VAN PERSIE has been offered a contract by Manchester City that promises to make him the Premier League’s best-paid player. City’s proposal, which sources close to both the club and Van Persie say has been accepted, is worth £10.9m a year. If he signs, the prolific Dutchman will become the fifth Arsenal player to join the league leaders in three seasons.
At £210,000-a-week, the contract would place Van Persie on top of the club’s pay scale once Carlos Tevez is sold this summer. A transfer fee will have to be agreed but, with the striker’s contract entering its final season and City offering almost £100,000 a week above the pay ceiling at Arsenal, the north London club will be presented with another dilemma. They sold Samir Nasri to City in almost identical circumstances last summer. The Premier League’s richest club outbid all other suitors by agreeing an £8.4m annual pay package with Nasri — who was entering the final year of his contract — and waited for Arsenal’s board to override Arsène Wenger’s opposition to a sale. Van Persie, 28, has scored 25 goals in 27 Premier League appearances this season, underlining his status as the top flight’s leading marksman. Soon after the campaign started he stated his intention not to discuss a contract extension with Arsenal until the season ended; that remains unchanged. When Roberto Mancini was asked about Van Persie in midweek, the City manager said: “At this moment [he] is one of the best strikers in Europe with [Lionel] Messi, [Cristiano] Ronaldo and with Sergio [Aguero] and Mario [Balotelli]. If there is a good player who wants to leave a club, then we are interested. But if this player wants to stay, we don’t have any problem. In my opinion, Van Persie will stay at Arsenal.”
Wenger, who has seen Kolo Toure, Emmanuel Adebayor, Gael Clichy and Nasri move to City in big-money deals, said: “We will not lose anybody to Manchester City or to anybody else because we want to keep our players. We want to keep Robin van Persie, that is clear, we will do everything possible to extend his contract.”
Though Wenger has said his interest in Lukas Podolski is independent of Van Persie’s future, Arsenal are close to securing the German international to provide a striking alternative. Podolski, 26, was the subject of a failed bid in January but is expected to join for £10.9m from Cologne this summer. Van Persie is represented by Darren Dein, who negotiated the exits of Cesc Fabregas, Thierry Henry and Clichy. The son of former Arsenal vice-chairman David Dein, the agent also represents Adebayor and Alex Song."

People need to forget about Gotze. We did make a bid last year but he isnt leaving for anything less than 40m. Dortmund doesnt need the money and they know how much value Gotze has in current market. Arsenal will never compete with the likes of Real Madrid, when it comes down to a bidding war.

Re: 2012 Summer Transfers
Duncan Castles wrote that article for a paper owned by the same people who own Man City. Coincidence no?
I used to respect him as a writer but I can tell that article is complete horeshit and it's only purpose is to stir shit and make him a lot of money in the process.
Probably didn't even write it himself. Signed off on it but what lazy, factless, sensationalist rubbish.

Waited too long and only have ourselves to blame, Lille agreed to let one of their forwards leave last season why on earth we pursued Gervinho above Hazard I will never know, not saying I dont like Gervinho but I personally think when you compare the two, there should have only been one option to sign.

Totally different kind of player, I dont see how you can compare them especially as each player would bring different qualities.

Re: 2012 Summer Transfers
If we sign Podoloski, why would we go and sign Hazard? How many left sided attacking midfielders can one club possibly need?
