Re: Champions / EUROPA League
Chelsea get Benfica in the quarters, and either Milan/Barca in the semi's if they get through.
Milan v Barca should be a cracker.
Other matches were APOEL vs Real and Marseille vs Bayern.

^ I agree with how that'll play out.
Only difference is I want, and kinda think, Bayern will win (I want APOEL but it's a long shot).

Got a feeling they'll do Chelsea in 2 legs.

The differences financially between Apoel and Real Madrid must make this the biggest David vs Goliath knock out clash in recent memory.

Apeol holding on quite strong. 65mins in and apart from Benzema's horrendous miss, Madrid haven't seriously threatened. Still a long way to go but if Apeol somehow manage to knock out Madrid, oh my.

Re: Champions / EUROPA League
They did so well to hang on for so long and restricting Real to not many real chances. But when they can bring on Marcelo and Kaka, two players who combined probably cost more than every player in Cyprus put together, it's too much to expect.
I hope they avoid a huge defeat next week and they can be proud for everything they've achieved. Oh, and I'm also glad Ronaldo didn't score tonight. Such a massive, whiny bitch.
Not happy that Chelsea won, but looking at their fixtures, it could help us when we play them should they go through -
14th - Tottenham FA Cup
Midweek - Barcelona/AC Milan
21st - Arsenal

Re: Champions / EUROPA League
Milan are so cynical. Good at home they may be, but they dived, feigned injury, and cut up their pitch so that Barca couldn't play. Playing for penalties already....

It could've been worse. Marseille - Bayern was such a waste of time. I can't find the words to describe how pointless/useless/tedious Marseille are.

Maybe UEFA will react now, since they're Barca's bitch and all.

Re: Champions / EUROPA League
I'd take Chelsea getting there (but I'd like them to lose). At least it would be something different. The CL is hardly a competition these days, just a procession to the inevitable crowning of UEFA's favourite team.
There's no drama or interest anymore, and whenever something does happen to change that, out pops a red card, or a penalty or something or other to save them.
The first penalty tonight was spot on, fair enough, the second one was not. Yes he was pulling his shirt as blatant as anything, but I was under the impression that you can't give a penalty or a foul when the ball isn't in play. You can book or send off people, but not give a free kick or penalty for it. I could be wrong of course about that, if so the victory was fair.
Even with that though you see that kind of thing all the time and nothing gets given... it doesn't surprise me that they would give something like that in this game and then ignore it all the time in all the others though.

Re: Champions / EUROPA League
Chelsea in the CL final is never a good thing.
It's easy to dislike Barcelona but they are clearly the best side. Nothing lasts forever though, I suspect their tiki taka will be less perfect after Xavi retires. There's no-one with similar clockwork consistency.
