Re: Arsenal Champions League
I haven't followed Fenerbahce much in recent years.
Notable players seem to be:
- Moussa Sow
- Bruno Alves
- Pierre Webo
- Dirk Kuyt
They made the semi finals of the Europa league last season, losing to benfica.
They came runners up in the league but won the cup.

Not on topic but... this forum is as dead as Arsenal's transfer window activities. You two seem to be the only two left who post regularly. Makes me sad after all the effort involved to get this place running after the facebook discussion board was scrapped.

Re: Arsenal Champions League
hah, match days still pull in a couple of people. A grand total of like 4 or 5 people! But in seriousness, it gets slightly busier during the season.
On Fenerbahce, I heard they might get banned for match fixing after the play offs. Which is bullshit if they manage to beat us, how is that fair on us? There next best team in their league would then qualify without doing anything. That is not to say we'll lose, we should win comfortably, but it's still a possiblity.

I've been lurking! So that makes at least 3 . With all the off -season bull#$%^ I've found it's more relaxing to not get involved until after the transfer window closes.Alex Hadjicharalampous wrote:Not on topic but... this forum is as dead as Arsenal's transfer window activities. Waiting for this weekend.
I like how we look as a squad but we have absolutely no depth. The way we played against City shows we are a better team than them, much better understanding and chemistry, but they have better players.
For me it's that same story as always- if we don't sign the 2-3 class players we need, we'll be battling it out for 4th-5th- 6th.
Spurs and Liverpool have made some good signings. IF (big if) Bale and Suarez stay put, and WHEN their new players bed in.......who knows.

Re: Arsenal Champions League
as long as it is announced quickly here by someone if we do actually sign someone, then i'll be happy to use here as my main discussion on arsenal. it's hard to tell what is serious out of all the internet transfer links so it's always good to check what other gooners think.
there were people who sparked discussions on the old facebook page like dan mccarthy and pooja, but more because they were controversial/wrong/deliberately stirring rather than being good posters. not sure if it would be good to have that even if it got more people posting.

Re: Arsenal Champions League
a few things i do find good about this forum is the people here dont bullshit for one...chances are if its transfer talk its decent talk not crap like arsenal to sign messi, ronaldo the usual shite.....another thing here is people respect the idea that others have opinions and listen and debate and not call someone a twat or playground talk...
i think if we could get a few more in it will get a bit more lively...just not some of those on the facebook page...but then again the banter would be amusing...
how can you put a link into the facebook page for here???

I think it's just 'cause it's still preseason... things do liven up during the season. I, for one, wouldn't like more people coming, especially from the facebook page. Too many half -wits, I guess

Us half-wits seem to have better arguments anyway... And we seem to get info quicker than the facebook group anyway...

Re: Arsenal Champions League
Just my personal opinion. The group has been killed by the people who created different groupings (Arsenal, non-arsenal etc....). The old facebook site was good because of the dynamism involved. People were discussing different themes in the same page and the most active thread used to find its way to the top. When I used to come to the facebook page, threads which did not entirely relate to football were also interesting. That encouraged more interaction. There were people who spent more time on the page doing different stuff and some who maybe came only for few minutes to check arsenal news. Some funny threads which had nothing to do with Arsenal made the forum so lively. But there was something for everybody. There is a subtle difference switching between threads and switching between sub-groups.... For example, when I used to visit Facebook page, there was always few threads on the top where there were some latest postings. So I would just stay on the site a bit longer. Now I come just to Arsenal section-->no posts. I just close it as I dont want to keep clicking through every section to see whats happening... Maybe its just me doing it that way. But I think this has been the reason that the group has gradually died. Firstly people have to switch here from facebook and then go through different sections. sucks.Alex Hadjicharalampous wrote:Not on topic but... this forum is as dead as Arsenal's transfer window activities. The threads which interested nobody in the earlier facebook forum, would die away in a while anyway. Now it is just more organized, but less people.

Re: Arsenal Champions League
so here is a thought,
now that ferguson is gone (halleluah) arsene wenger is prolly the most influential manager at the big club level. by influential i mean he wields a lot of power in terms of the clubs operations, he has more sway over the clubs in and outs than mr ivan n sir chips put togather. so how do you get rid of this great man who has done so much for the club. you can't just fire him, north london would up in arms
so what do you do? you come out and say we so and so amount of money to buy top flight players. next you do everything you can to stop it from happening. you see son, you have to paint him a villain before chopping his head off, you can't burn someone at the stake without calling them a witch first.
come next season, if arsenal doesn't make the top four, which looks like a harsh possibility right now, arsene will be surely shown the door.
ok i admit i'm a bit drunk and watch too much of game of thrones and since we were lacking posting in the "half wit" department thought i'd make one.

Re: Arsenal Champions League
boo deep.gurung boo. someone ban this guy!
but seriously, it really is all on wenger now. if we fail, it's down to him. even though that would give the board licence to sack him if we don't make the top 4, I'm not sure they would and want to.

Re: Arsenal Champions League
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger receives some welcome news as five players feared to have contracted injuries at the weekend reported for training.
Bacary Sagna, Kieran Gibbs, Aaron Ramsey, Jack Wilshere and Tomas Rosicky all hurt themselves during Arsenal's shock 3-1 loss at home to Aston Villa on the opening day of the Premier League season on Saturday, but were able to train on Tuesday morning.
Arsenal will hope to have all five players at their disposal when they visit Turkish side Fenerbahce for the first leg of their Champions League play-off tie on Wednesday.
