Lol sorry, meant in terms of being on equal games now with spuds, we're proper ahead of them now, chelsea will probably win their game in hand.

Shitty first half, but at least they fought to the end. I was getting ready to blame the defeat on Gervinho missing an empty net.

Anyone think we should cheekily aim for 2nd? 6 points behind city...

Why not? Two wins for us, two losses for them. It's possible.

Yes, but usually at the point where we start to dream of this kind of thing, reality slaps us in the face.

I think dreaming of catching City is silly. First let's just focus on beating Everton and opening up a bigger gap.

Re: Arsenal -Norwich
All we ever aim for is CL qualification.
Finishing 2nd would be essentially meaningless, as we were never anywhere near the title race. You can normally tell within the first ten matches of the league season if a side has a chance or not.
There are a few exceptions, such as in 2001/2002 where we were pretty average until Christmas, but that side had legendary players as well as Seaman and Adams to come back after injury. It doesn't usually happen.
Apart from 07/08, we've mostly ruled ourselves out of the league within a couple of months. Even when we got back within reasonable distance in 09/10, it was illusory as we got demolished in big games.
As for the cups, Wenger's attitude is pretty questionable.

catching city could have been possible if they had lost against united.not possible now.its basically a 9 points gap between them and us.cant see them loosing 3 games out of 7 and us winning all the remaining 6

We can't catch City, but let's make sure we end up third or fourth AND higher than Spurs.

This line from premierleague.com made me chuckle:
"The Londoners move a point clear of Chelsea, who have a game in hand, and Tottenham Hotspur, who do not."

Imo qualifying for the Champions League can't be an acceptable achievement, even if it means coming back from the brink. It's a bare minimum achievement. It's just so predictable that it will "buy Wenger another year", but should it really? I think he's done all he can and we need to pass the reins on to someone else. I also don't accept the "we might get worse under someone else" argument, if we thought like that change would never happen in any field of life.
Not losing any important players would be a big step this summer, but the team's problems go way beyond that. Tactically too poor, no sense of carpe diem, and the recruitment has generally been too mediocre bar Cazorla and Monreal. Oh and for goodness sake, buy some muscle/dynamism in midfield, a good GK (even at the risk of killing Szczesny and a proper striker. Oh wait we keep on buying strikers, we just can't find one with his feet on the right way, who makes the right decisions and who doesn't disappear in games.

Well i think next season is make or break for Wenger.with all the possible indications that we are going to spend big this year i want to see how wenger performs when given money.if we are out of title race before march-april next year and dont make it to atleast last 4 of champions league then i will like to see Wenger go.

Re: Arsenal -Norwich
The past few seasons have been make or break for Wenger, as far as the fans are concerned, but the board think otherwise. We have had the same discussions the past few seasons. I agree with John that we should be more ambitious.
But we just had a thrilling win with 3 late goals! Why spoil the enjoyment with such negative posts in the match thread?
