Arsenal Player Performances in Euro 2012

Surprised this hasn't been started off. How about a review of our players in the tournament.

I only managed to watch the last 20mins of Russia vs Czech, so pls comment further!
Starting with...

Szcezney: Sent off, conceded PK. Now he can rest up for the start of the new season!

Arshavin: He made a massive run in around the 70th minutes no less, didnt come to much. Enough to want him back? But Russia were rampant against...

Rosicky:

Szczesny messed up bigtime, Arshavin had a decent game, Rosicky tried his best. On to tomorrow then!

decent game? hmmm. i thought he had a good game, he was controlling the game wasn't it?

Szczesny had a nightmare start and Tyton's penalty save could cost him the starting place.

Rosicky worked hard but nothing seemed to come off for him. He wasn't helped by Baros' movement.

Arshavin played like it was Euro 2008. Was lively on the ball and at times also came back to defend. Just the kind of performance we needed from him to raise his stock.

Szczesny had next to nothing to do but when he was called upon he messed up. He should have stayed on his line for the Greek goal and then obviously conceding the penalty and getting sent off. Otherwise all he had to do was maybe make a couple of catches. A shame if his tournament is now over.

Only saw 2nd half of the Rus-Cze game but Arshavin was getting a shit load of praise all over Twitter and commentary from his 1st half performance. And then again for his 2nd performance half where he controlled the Russian attack. And he was coming off the left, too, as I know people were starting to say this is what happens when he plays in his 'normal' position.

Despite two-goal hero Dzagoev, Arshavin was star of the match. Always in apex of attack, full of running, great passes, impeccable technique and dribble... joy to watch!

Edit: Rosicky was good too, despite of being on the loosing end. Full of energy and willing to create. But simply didnt have, apart from
Václav Pilař, any in-form teamate. But positive performance from point of Arsenal supporter.

Van Persie is pretty ordinary in this game. Had a fee chances that he fluffed but working his socks off. I can see him getting two goals after 85mins tho.The dutch team as a whole are lacking somewhat. Bendtner is just Bendtner. Trying to play, but doesn't really make an impact.

Podolski also had a very ordinary game yesterday. Missed some sitters too.

Sad to see Mertesacker not feature. Unfortunately for him I think he's going to be restricted to the bench this tournament after seeing Hummels throw himself at everything last night.

Judgung by his leading performance, a second injury free season for Rosicky may be as significant as RVPs.

What happend to AA? Looks like the old one (just a bit slower) from EURO 2008. Played some nice passed and assists.

There is no way he is going to sit on our bench next season, not a chance.

Ox will still only be 19. But then again, it didn't stop fabregas. And ox is built for it.

Arshavin put on another good attacking display yesterday, is he worth bringing back to the club?

His lackadaisical style and refusal to track back isn't an issue when his team are dominating the game, but when we're trying to grind out results against stubborn English defenses, it's simply unacceptable.

As excited as I am about the Ox, I have reservations about whether or not he's first team quality just yet. Talent wise, I'd have him over Walcott, but Walcott's delivery in the final third is one of the reasons why RvP scored as many goals as he did.

Most of the chat about Arshavin was based on a performance against the Czechs who left a mile between their midfield and defence, it was easy for him to influence the game. Also, Russia play counter-attacking football we don't.

There's no point bringing him back, as we saw once again yesterday he is physically a pathetic athlete. He also scored too few goals to merit his free defensive role. Assists are nice but his goalscoring form was oh-so-temporary in his first year at the club.

Lets just hope Arshavin catches PSG's eye with his performances at the Euro 2012 =)

Arshavin's good performances at the Euros must be used to get a higher fee for him and nothing else. I don't want lazy bastards who whine at the club. I want peeple like Arteta and Benayoun (with more quality) who wold fight for the team.

Robin van Persie had a pretty decent chance from a ball over the top from Marc van Bommell. The RvP of earlier this season would have put that away.

RVP pretty useless when he isn't playing for Arsenal huh?

podolski hasn't done much in this or the previous game either. 2 Arsenal strikers, not showing much. Doesn't look promising for the new season. Our best player of the tourney being the wantaway, Arshavin.
