Re: Who are our most important players?
yeah! I guess there's difference between 'proving' and 'achieving'. Rosicky has proved that he still has it in his legs to take a team from 13 points behind to a comfortable 3rd spot on table. But he hasn't achieved anything yet. And talking about achievement, neither has Nasri with Man City.Jonathan Prendergast wrote:Rosicky has prov proved something. Nasri proved 25m pounds worth of something. The question is more if they have achieved anything.

Rosicky has proven absolutely nothing in England. Nothing whatsoever.
John O'Shea had an important role? How on Earth can you say that. He was just the kind of squad player that is eminently replaceable.
Rosicky had the bad luck of spending almost two years out injured. When fit and considered worthy of a regular starting place, he has always been very effective.
He wasn't an important first team player when he returned from injury because in the meantime we'd signed other players but since the turn of the year it's obvious that he's been a very important first team player. No-one else could have played the role he played, certainly not Ramsey nor anyone else in the squad.

Comparing O'shea to Rosicky ?? ppff.. without him we wouldn't be 3rd place.

Re: Who are our most important players?
Again, I will mention Arteta. We missed him dearly.
By the way , did anyone notice that Arteta is an upgraded version of Denilson instead of Cesc or Nasri.
Great shot on him, side ways passes. Just keeps the ball better and doesn't lose the ball and definitely more hardworking than Denilson.

It's gotta be RVP and Arteta for me - take out Arteta and I think our whole midfield style changes at the moment. None of our backups have that calm control about them that he has.
Also, Chesney.
EDIT: don't mean to take anything away from Sagna, he's still the best RB in the world. But I think Jenkinson is good short-term cover. Whereas Coquelin/Frimpong/Ramsey/Diaby for Arteta doesn't fill me with confidence - none are like-for-like.
Whoever this guy is, he called it.

How can the alleged best RB in the world be that poor against a side like Wigan? Very grateful that his blips like that are so rare!

Re: Who are our most important players?
I think, this season our most important players (in order) have been:
RVP- goal scoring prowess and leader of the team.
Arteta- keeps us ticking, does the simple things well and offers discipline in a more defensive position when song is playing the cesc role!
Koscielny- by far our best and most consistent defender this season.
Having that spine has been vital to our good form this season and those three have been by far the most consistent players for us.
