Re: 2012 Summer Transfers
Szczesny is 22, he joined the club in 2009, which means he was 19 at the time.
Song was on loan in 2005. We signed him in 2006. He turns 25 in September, so i'm not sure if he was at the club for 3 years before he turned 21 (I think thats the rule).
Mannone - thought he had left / was leaving.
Bartley - didn't include him, had over 30 players in my original list, I didn't think he would make the 25 man squad.
I also noticed, I counted Walcott twice.
Eisfeld (sp?) if he is under 21, doesn't cause any problem for the 25 list squad either. Don't think he will make the 25 man cut either.
Szczesny, Fabianski, Mannone
Sagna, Santos, Gibbs, Jenkinson
Mertesacker, Vermaelen, Koscielny, Djourou
Diaby, Rosicky, Arteta, Ramsey, Song, Wilshere, Coquelin, Cazorla, Sahin (?)
van Persie, Giroud, Walcott, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Gervinho, Podolski
Thats 25 players.
Park, Squillaci, Arshavin, Chamakh, Bendtner not included.
Mannone is 24 and has been at the club since 2006, so I think he counts as a home grown player too.
So we have! - Gibbs, Jenkinson, Ramsey, Wilshere, Coquelin, Walcott, Oxlade-Chamberlain & Mannone as home grown players.
Thats 9, and we need to have 8 in the 25 man squad. In addition to that, we can play as many home grown players as we want, on top of the 25 man squad (like Bartley) or any over-seas player (cricket term?) under the age of 21 (like Eisfeld).

Re: 2012 Summer Transfers
Then Jack Wilshere and Oxlade-Chamberlain wouldn't be in the 25 man squad. They're both below 21.Meshaal wrote:In addition to that, we can play as many home grown players as we want, on top of the 25 man squad (like Bartley) or any over-seas player (cricket term?) under the age of 21 (like Eisfeld).

But we have to have atleast 8 home-grown players in the 25 man squad, thats why we have to count them as home grown.

Re: 2012 Summer Transfers
Any truth in this?
http://trib.com/sports/olympics/blogs/south-korean-soccer-star-ki-sung-yeung-cashing-in-on/article_fba14957-6816-5c0b-9ae1-42c404a403e6.html
LONDON – South Korean soccer player Ki Sung-Yueng is poised to cash in on his Summer Games success. The 23-year-old midfielder has been lined up for a switch to the high-profile English Premier League club Arsenal.
Ki was in stellar form during the Olympic men's soccer tournament, helping the Koreans defeat host nation Great Britain in a dramatic quarterfinal penalty shootout.
[ Related: Controversy in U.S. soccer win over Canada ]
The move, reported by several British newspapers, is expected to land Ki a contract worth $20 million over the next four years with Arsenal, which had to loosen its typically rigid pay structure.
The London club has lost out on several transfer targets in recent years by being unwilling to match offers elsewhere. But Arsenal has adopted a new policy after finishing third in the EPL last season, 19 points behind champions Manchester City. It has already added notable players Lukas Podolski, Olivier Giroud and Santi Cazorla.
Ki plays for leading Scottish team Glasgow Celtic, but a move to Arsenal would be a significant step up in terms of quality, profile and pay. He was identified by Arsenal chief scout Steve Rowley, whose opinion carries a lot of weight with head coach Arsene Wenger.
Ki, who scored in Korea's shootout win over Great Britain, is still under contract with Celtic, so Arsenal will need to pay a transfer fee in the region of $15 million to the Scottish team.

Any concerns that Ki would have difficulty adapting to life in England have been allayed by the fact that he has regularly spoken of how much he likes living in the United Kingdom since signing for Celtic. He also spent much of his childhood in Australia and is a fluent English speaker.
South Korea was knocked out of the Games by Brazil in a 3-0 semifinal defeat. However, the efforts of the Asian side, and especially Ki, grabbed plenty of attention. Hopes are high that several members of the squad can go on to become valuable contributors for the full senior team.
Olympic soccer features squads with players who are 23 years of age or younger and allows only three overage players. The South Koreans seek their first Olympic soccer medal ever on Friday in the bronze-medal game against Japan.

Rumors that we've been scouting him for a while with Celtic, but I can't see it happening
Re: 2012 Summer Transfers
What position? CAM as well as Cazorla?
Korea and Japan will have some of the worlds best players in the future. Big population, great investment in development programs.

I now realize spurs' transfer stratagy in recent years have been to buy every player Arsenal are linked to, saves them lotsa money on scouting and they get decent players most of the time because of it.

And for any player that wants to play in the Premier League. They get their agent to suggest there is interest from Arsenal.
For example: Kevin Mirallas.

The Van Persie money MUST be partly or entirely re-invested! It simply MUST BE!

Then we'd need a goal scoring wide like Hazard....oh wait....or we just buy a few DMs, pack the midfield and turn into Chelsea.
Surely RM must have a striker or three knocking about

An experienced goalie and Yann M'Vila, and not lose Song and Walcott and I think we look good. We still only play with one central striker and can choose from Podolski, Giroud, Chamakh, Walcott and Gervinho and have options out wide as well if we move wide players inside.

Affellay if he still available for 6 million ish would enable us to use Gervinho/Walcott centrally on the occassions we need them to.
