Terrible 2nd half by us attacking wise, great defensively, we really look a new team in defense, been put under some heavy pressure at times.

We really struggled to keep possession in their half. The one time we did, we scored our first goal. Diaby looked half asleep. Maybe the first game backed up 3 days after a weekend game took its toll. The Ox was slightly missed too for his hard work.

It's good though that we get goals when playing poorly. We rode our luck in defence a bit. There was a bit of ball watching going on.

It's true. There are double standards.

However, United have a history for winning, winning late or winning ugly. We have a more recent history of winning through dominance, or losing despite dominance.

I think we (arsenal fans/supporters) realise that this year's (and last year's) teams have more resolve than previous years, and it is a pattern that we win despite not necessarily dominating.

Reasonable performance, we did what we had to. Didn't always take the safest options and a silly challenge by TV, though then again nothing has changed. He's still got a cock-up in him, armband or no armband.

Until 10 years ago we were useless in European away fixtures. Useless tactics and really didn't look like changing. Then we won 4-0 away at PSV, Gilberto scoring the fastest goal ever. We won away to Auxerre and Roma in the same season. Nice to celebrate ten years of reversing the trend in away games. I always thought we'd have a good chance of winning this, we're efficient in the group stages now.

Any win away from home, on paper probably the 2nd toughest game in the group, is a good result. No complaints with that. We rode our luck in the 2nd half but you always need a bit and we showed very good resilience to bounce back so soon after going behind and hanging on when we weren't playing our best.

A few points:

- Really glad to see Podolski and Gervinho score two good strikers goals to continue their recent scoring form. Both have started the season well and Podolski looks like he will be a very good signing.

- Rash challenge from Vermaelen for the penalty. He is prone to those sort of things and there was no need for it. Conceded two goals so far but both came from individual errors, something that we did a lot last season, and that obviously has to be cut out because the rest of our defensive work is coming on well.

- Thought the back 5 did very well. Full backs are getting better each game and Jenkinson especially is like a different player to the one who played last season.

- Giroud has a lot of pressure on him and feel that people are a bit too harsh on him. He works hard and made an assist, yes he hasn't scored yet and didn't get close to it tonight but he's only started 3 games! He needs one soon for his own sake but as long as we keep winning/getting good results, and he contributes well enough, then we can wait.

- Some players looked jaded and I thought we needed to make some substitutions Cazorla played the 90 on the weekend when he didn't really have to and tonight he looked to have faded as the game went on and the subs maybe came about 15mins late. Obviously it's risky due to the situation of the game, make subs and concede and you're wrong etc, just thought with Montpellier looking dangerous and being first to balls and with City coming up and the we might have considered it.

- Diaby was a bit on and off, gave the ball away in the box should have led to the goal and I think the early yellow card affected his game. But that late 'challenge' in the box should NOT have been a penalty, whatever the pundits say. When did contact = penalty? If the contact doesn't lead to a foul, then it's not a penalty. The guy fell over with the slightest breeze.


Anyway, Olympiakos at home next and we should be beating them and go into the Schalke double header with 6 points.
