This would signal the end of our interest in Gotze, I think.

And I wonder if Chelsea's signing of de Bruyne would end their interest in Hazard?

Exactly, could be a great piece of business, and if not then not much of a loss ala bischoff.

an acl injury is not the end of the world, and hes scoring at a good rate. and no one else has signed goetze yet, so a bunch of other managers are in the same boat as wenger.

Quite. For example, Van Nistelrooy had a past ACL injury when he signed for Man U. Pires came back from a similar and was still very effective after one too. There are countless other examples, I'm sure.

As has been said, for £400k it would be by no means a disaster at all. Indeed, we have spent more than that on several players since Wenger arrived who never broke through. In terms of our financial base, it's a negligible fee, and I trust that he must be relatively promising as I doubt we'd be going for him otherwise.

Also, explain why this means that we won't go in for Goetze in the future? Not that I frankly think he'd be the saviour for us, but I genuinely don't see how this signing would necessarily mean that.

This is the highlights of the Gladbach u19 vs Dortmund u19s back in November. Eisfeld is number 10 with a yellow shirt. He makes a great assist for the first goal and had 2 other good moments in those short highlights.

how reliable is this site:

and also this..

Arsenal are reportedly in negotiations with Seville, to sign 20-year old Japanese striker Hiroshi Ibusuki.

Arsène's strategy this window is to find as many obscure players as possible. Very Happy

Stephen, I say that because one of the articles posted mentioned that this kid was frustrated because his path to the first team is blocked by Gotze, who is only a little bit older. That was the basis behind my thinking. However, it depends on whether Wenger sees this kid as being good enough to be near the first team already. If he's just someone for the reserves, who may come through someday, then Gotze is still a possibility.

I find it quite funny that people are already writing the kid off. Nearly all of our best players under Wenger have been signings like this, from Viera (who arrived pre-Arsène on his recommendation) right up to Chamberlain, via Anelka, Toure, van Persie and Fabregas. Arsène likes to buy young, cheap and mouldable.

finally some action:

Chelsea signed Kevin de Bruyne (20, Genk) for 8 million. He'll stay at Genk on loan this season.

Fredy Guarin on loan from Porto to Inter. Inter could buy him next summer for 11 million.

Luca Toni from Juve to Al Nasr Dubai.

Lucho from OM to Porto.

Corluka on the way to Bayer, Ballack about to leave Bayer.
Pogrebnyak in talks with Fulham.
Barrios will stay in Dortmund.

QPR signed Djibril Cisse for 5 million from Lazio.

Transfer list of Germany: Barrios, Corluka, Pogrebnyak on that list. No Podolski (if someone still believes in that rumour).

Interesting. If this were to go through, will we see a mad rush at 10.30pm tonight as we realise how light we are in attack? Surely we'd have to sign another winger/forward, we'd be 2 or 3 injuries away from having literally *no one*.
