Re: Arsenal v Bayern Munich
Not sure this defeat is that embarrassing, considering the relative strengths of these two teams at the moment.
Just look at how hard Robben works to get the ball back. They've got a game plan they stick to 100%, we're a mess and far too easy to play through, not to mention the laughable ease with which van Buyten got across our static, sorry zonal marking for the first goal.
Well, that's that game gone. We really can't move forward as a club without a new manager. I'm not a fan of some of the language on this board, people telling AW to fuck off etc are complete muppets, but it's been clear for a while that we need a change.

Just a few more months to go before this season is over and the board shows the balls to make that move. Personally, I would be quite disappointed if Wenger started next season as our manager - heart-breaking that is has to come, really used to admire the man and still love him for all he has done for the club. Not only is he not the man to take the club forward, he's not even the man who can stop it from sliding into true mid-table obscurity at the moment.
Need quality players all over the pitch as well.

Re: Arsenal v Bayern Munich
Ofcourse it's embarresing, regardless of who we play, Arsenal Football Club should be able to hold it's own at home! Wenger and the board has really mismanaged us for the past few years, our only ambition is to play IN the champions league, not to WIN it! Our club's become a laughing stock even at home now, heard earlier that this is the most we've lost at home in Wenger's entire reign now. How the hell can Wenger accept thia is beyond me! This is the same man who used to have one of the greatest managerial rivalries ever, against ferguson, wenger's now so far behind him it's not even funny...
Unbelievable how far we've fallen, our biggest rivalry is now spuds! Fucking spuds who we used to swat with a fly swatter everytime we played them, never lost to them in like 9 years before all the shit started creeping in! I just cannot fathom how Wenger feels all of this is ok season after season, the fans sure as hell don't deserve all of this shit, we've got the most expensive season tickets after all, so many die hard fans have been priced out of being able to see their beloved Arsenal, yet all of that sits alright with Wenger and our board, it's truely beyond words...

Next season? Any decent manager - ofcourse like any normal human being, he would also demand a couple of decent signings to make his job easier. Downside is whoever it is will have to break into the top 4 all over again - hopefully we won't slide as far back as Liverpool did when they stopped qualifying for the CL and we can back in the top 4 (or better) by the end of next season.

Bayerns current manager for one. believe it or not but we still are (not on the pitch of course) one of Europe's biggest clubs. I think any manager would want a chance with us. Also There's the likes of klopp, Pelegrini etc. Possibly even Spain's manager, since he's won it all with them... If our board really had the ambition and balls we could probably get any manager bar mourinho and fergi...

Re: Arsenal v Bayern Munich
Of course we can attract impressive managerial candidates. But before we talk about bringing in new players, how about making the most of what we've got? Something that is certainly not happening at the moment. Without a discipline tactical plan we are too easy to play against.
As for managers we are not going to get the OAP in charge at Bayern, having never coached in England before. I think we need a fairly young man in charge, I wouldn't be against someone like David Moyes to be honest.

Completely agree. There are alot of managers out there who could do a better job with this team right now. Alot of them would also want to manage us. Come to think of it, there are very few clubs "bigger" than us in Europe - in spite of our forms in the last couple of years - Manchester United, Manchester City and Chelsea (last 2 only because of the money they can offer, though many would not want to manage Chelsea at this stage), Barcelona, Real Madrid, AC Milan, Juventus, Inter (barely), Bayern Munich and possibly Dortmund (at this stage) and PSG (money again).
So that means the list of managers we cannot sign are : Sir Alex Ferguson (can't have him), Roberto Mancini (don't want him), Rafael Benitez (don't want him), Tito Vilanova, Jose Mourinho (don't want him), Massimiliano Allegri, Antonio Conte, Andrea Stramaccioni (no idea who he is), Pep Guardiola, Jurgen Klopp (I'm sure he can be convinced) and Carlo Ancelotti (might be worth a look at).
Worth looking at : Laurent Blanc, Louis van Gaal (Netherlands), Luciano Spaletti (Zenit St Petersburgh), Dennis Bergkamp (Asst. Manager at Ajax), Joachim Low (Germany), Diego Simeone (Atletico Madrid), Marcelo Bielsa (Athletico Bilbao), Manuel Pelligrini (Malaga), David Moyes (Everton), Michael Laudrup (Swansea) and ofcourse Jurgen Klopp (Borussia Dortmund) and Carlo Ancelotti (PSG).

Not sure losing 3-1 to Bayern is on the same level as losing to Blackburn.

Re: Arsenal v Bayern Munich
I think we're unlikely to sign an Italian or a south American manager.
More sensible would be to look closer to home. Laudrup or Moyes makes sense. Blanc also, presuming he speaks good enough English after his two years in England. Unless an outstanding candidate is available we could go for something more humble and close to home. Stramaccioni to cite one of your examples was youth team coach at Inter but the Inter owner, as used as he is to throwing around money, went for a cheaper option after buying the Champions League.
Joachim Low sounds interesting but he might not be available until 2014, and Klopp seems likely to take the Germany job once he's had enough at Dortmund.

In a perfect world, Dennis Bergkamp would be the savior. Again

Re: Arsenal v Bayern Munich
To be honest, I would take David Moyes, Jurgen Klopp, Bergkamp, Laudrup, Blanc in a heartbeat... But, the thing is, if AW's replacement fucks it up then another manager comes in and that's how managerial musical chairs starts. Continuity is an important aspect of the job. Look at Fergie, Moyes (his hands are tied tighter than AWs but he still keeps Everton competitive). Plus AW won't just disappear, he's gonna get a seat on the board or the tech. director position. Not to mention he's gonna hand pick his successor. I wouldn't be against betting a fiver that an uknown ends up replacing him.
