Re: January transfers
Another worry is that we wait until the end of the window and then are rushed into buying someone because we are so short and then buy someone who is about as far from 'super quality' as I am for sizeable wages and long term and then have to suffer whilst we see off their contract. Get it done earlier and you may pay a small premium for getting business done quicker, but it saves you a lot of heartache in the long term and maybe getting someone you actually want

Re: January transfers
Of course there are players out there, Wenger is talking rubbish. If he doesn't realise it then he really has lost it and should do the decent thing at the end of the season. Nothing lasts forever etc....
We have all sorts of odds and ends playing lying around and decent deals are done elsewhere in the market. Dembele was an obvious one, he and Ruiz ran the show against us at Craven Cottage last year. Wenger has been allergic to players with any kind of muscle or spark since 2008, yet he is paid handsomely to find a balance in the team that he can't/refuses to provide.
Etienne Capoue to Everton is another one doing the rounds. I've seen him play a few times and it seems worth a shot. Other sides are willing to make them, yet we aren't. All the while our nutty manager sticks to a formation built around two players who are no longer at the club. We have this weak midfield built of players with two similiar styles and Cazorla plays so deep that he is becoming less and less likely to influence play at the right end of the pitch. A better coach would have him playing further up the pitch, just look at the results at Reading when that happened. Between him, Wilshere and Arteta that is too weak a midfield and waiting for Diaby is a folly only this manager would be capable of.
I just get the feeling the Arsene Wenger era at Arsenal is going to end badly. There are no happy endings in life, Thierry Henry even said it in an interview with Petit on French television not long ago. There may be muppets upstairs but Wenger is certainly in decline too. The tactical awareness of the side is terribly weak and we're just too easy to play against. I'd like him to call it a day at the end of the season, if he sticks to his word he certainly should do. He's no God, even stellar managers like Sacchi knew when to call it a day. It's almost selfish for him to continue like this, no matter how much we 'owe' him. Football fans are a sentimental bunch but it would be silly to deny his shortcomings now.
Oh and Theo Walcott..... tell me about it. Don't leave that poisoned chalice to the next manager. He's a tit. After all the financial fuck-ups we've made in terms of wages to shocking players, why give more and more to this guy? So limited and so lacking in self-awareness. He wants to take the free-kicks? Yet Santi was top scorer from free-kicks in Europe last year. Sure.

Are everyone at the club that are involved in signing players like sitting in a boardroom everyday with Theo looking at him hoping he signs, then night comes, he doesn't sign and everyone goes home then all is repeated in follow up days??
I sat back and imagined that scenario in my head and now I can't stop laughing.

Eh, that's an exaggeration. The vast majority of people on Twitter are unreliable, yes, because it's mostly random people making up stories and rumors and then somehow popping up on your search feed when you go to look up things. But there are a few accounts out there that are actually pretty reliable.

Im sure all those 'reliable' accounts posted that Remy to Newcastle was a done deal. I don't trust anything on there even journo's with decent connections to certain clubs.

Him and a defensive mid-fielder this January and we will have a first choice starting XI that could give anyone a run for their money.
I do however, understand why Wenger is reluctant to buy a DM when Diaby is fit and playing :\

With that injury record though, it is irresponsible not to reinforce the squad in that area. I think Coquelin is still too naive and junior to really fulfill the back-up role, hence why Wenger plays awkward midfields full of shorties with no muscularity or real defensive strength.

Re: January transfers
where the fuck are our scouts? Teams like Porto and Atletico Madrid always manage to find gems in South America and we still can't do that, even in Europe.
We need a LB (Santos is shit), DM, CM and a striker. We won't sign 4 players in this window which is sad because we are in a great danger of not finishing 4th this time as we are competing with Everton and Spurs not just the scum like last season.
There are many realistic targets, but I think Theo will sign a new contract and that's it. We won't sign anyone in this window.

We might sign someone like Eisfeld in late January just like we did last season who might come good in 4 years time.

Hahaha.....
well apparently we have missed out on Llorente....like we were even in for him....
Well the sparked rumors were doing the rounds on Twitter that a 30mil bid had been put in...and if it has any truth in it that counts a lot of players in..but being January also inflates any price....
I still say we should go after zaha...that boy will be class...
