Arsenal v Schalke 04
wednesday 24th october
emirates stadium
19.45gmt
back to the champions league....
wenger and the boys will be very (and so they should) disappointed in the result at the weekend, not sure to how i feel to this one shalke are no pushover (all being what we went into the norwich game expecting) and should and will put up a sure hell of a fight
no slip ups and getting not so much back to winning ways...but understanding that we are very much beatable at the moment and not to fuck it up....
going for a slight home win on this one 2-1

Re: Arsenal v Schalke 04
I really really hope we keep a clean sheet in this game! The last one we got was back then away to Liverpool, which is quite poor. No team news yet so predicting the line up could be difficult. Is chambo fit? Is Gibbs back? I expect the same team that played against Norwich maybe except for Le Coq replacing Ramsey.
2 0 for us, Giroud and Lukas.

Ox is out, but might be back for the weekend.
Am going to this (hopefully, am currently feeling the symptoms of flu coming on ) so hopefully I'll get to see a win. Would be good to see Jack make his comeback as well.

Re: Arsenal v Schalke 04
Well I have had a look this morning and still no early indication on who will be in the squad..
Wilshere is within spitting distance of making a return and he might just feature in this one..
To start things of and getting back to winning ways with some consistency for up coming games I would hope a morale boosting and clean sheet win would be on the cards....
But alas it's arsenal...anything is possible......
And just to add.....where the hell is everybody??!?!! the board has gone very quiet as of late....

Re: Arsenal v Schalke 04
Just to add for a chuckle I see this this morning on BBC football....
Fight in Paraguay junior match sees 36 players sent off
A fight breaks out during a football match in Paraguay's junior league which results in 36 players being sent off. The incident started in the last five minutes of the match in Caacupe on Sunday after referee Nestor Guillen sent off one player from each team for fighting. Ignoring the red cards, the two players remained on the field and continued to fight, leading to a mass brawl between both teams.
Hahaha......that is truly epic......a slot in the Guinness book of records awaits....

Re: Arsenal v Schalke 04
ok people today is the day...
time to dish out a good clean sheet win..team news coming up...
Central defender Laurent Koscielny has returned to the Arsenal squad after missing Saturday's defeat against Norwich with a back injury.
But forward Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain misses out with the hip injury he picked up against the Canaries.
Jack Wilshere, Emmanuel Frimpong and Bacary Sagna played for the Under-21 side on Monday as they recover from injuries and are unlikely to feature.
Theo Walcott did a running session on Tuesday but he is not match fit.
Walcott has not played since he injured his chest in a collision with San Marino goalkeeper Aldo Simoncini in England's 5-0 win on 12 October, while defender Kieran Gibbs also remains sidelined with a thigh injury.
Schalke, who defeated Borussia Dortmund in the Bundesliga on Saturday, have injury concerns ahead of the fixture.
Attacking midfielder Julian Draxler, 19, is a major doubt for the German side after breaking his left wrist in the 2-2 draw against Montpellier at the start of the month.
Greece defender Kyriakos Papadopoulos returned to training on Sunday after more than two weeks out with chicken pox, but there is a doubt over the 20-year-old's match fitness.
Schalke are the only Bundesliga team that has not lost a competitive game away from home this season, but they have not won in England in five attempts.
"It won't be easy for us," said defender Benedikt Hoewedes. "In London we'll have to throw everything into the pot (but) with our fans behind us, I'm sure we can get a good result."
Both teams have the same coaches in charge as when the two sides last met in the Champions League during the 2001-02 season, when Arsenal won 3-2 win at Highbury before losing 3-1 in Germany.
Arsenal (from): Mannone, Santos, Mertesacker, Vermaelen, Jenkinson, Cazorla, Arteta, Ramsey, Gervinho, Podolski, Giroud, Martinez, Coquelin, Djourou, Koscielny, Arshavin, Chamakh, Frimpong, Gnabry.
well its no choice on keeper and the rest almost picks itself

to be honest this is how i would like to see us set out for this one,
schalke have some decent mids in afellay, barnetta, moritz but i should think ours will have a fight but come out better..marica and huntelaar up front will cause us problems...if we can keep them high up the pitch with no feed from the mids it could be a decent result for us.....
rock on gunners.........

A clean sheet win would be great but I can see this being very tricky. I've shaken off the worst of my flu so I'll be in attendance tonight. Really wanna see Jack make his comeback tonight but I wouldn't be surprised to see him miss out as he had 90 minutes a couple of days ago and may be a bit tired.

Re: Arsenal v Schalke 04
well, that was a pretty dull and frustrating first half... toothless in attack, shaky at the back, and we're probably lucky not be 1-0 down because of the pen that schalke didn't get. santos needs to come off imo, he's an accident waiting to happen- he's all over the place. and gervinho is his usual frustrating best. if we don't step it up big time, i can see us losing this.

Yep, plus Santos has no idea how to defend. All of Schalke's attacks are coming down that flank. Koscielny was warming up so we might see a change with Vermaelen moving to left back.
