Re: Arsenal vs Man Utd
I know it's a shitty source but looks like Vermaelen and Sagna could be back for this one.

The ref isn't Howard Webb so it's a good sign as well.

Re: Arsenal vs Man Utd
We should drop Ramsey. His performance last weekend was horrible.
In a season where we will have little to cheer about, we really need a win just to have something to cheer about.

If Arteta isn't fit, I'm not sure how we can drop Ramsey. If we did, what midfield would you play?
Song--Benayoun--Rosicky is a recipe for disaster, I think.

And yeah, I don't think it'll be anything like as painful as earlier in the season, esp. if the press are right and Vermaelen/Sagna are back.
Not to say we won't lose, but we certainly won't get turned over again. Indeed, if Arteta, Vermaelen and maybe Sagna make the game, I think we'd stand a decent chance of a good result.

Ahahahaha!!
I also think we can get something out of this game if Arteta, Verminator, and Sagna make the outing. If Arteta isn't fit by then I hope swansea 2.0 doesn't occur. :-/ My prediction, 8-2 Arsenal

and that was the last time we saw Van Persie that season. (i think)
I fancy us getting a result on Sunday. United look as frail as we do at the moment

Yes, but Mike Dean is. Recent Premier League results with him in charge, W0 D5 L5.
Anyway, if it's true about Vermaelen and Sagna (I didn't read the article) then it goes without saying that it's a massive boost. I don't see Sagna playing but Vermaelen must play. If he doesn't start then I see another defeat.
It goes without saying that we must get a result and with City vs Spurs earlier in the day, there's a chance that we can close the gap on Spurs should we win. I expect us to be fired up for this one due to it being a big game, it seems at times that they're the only games we can get ourselves motivated for.

Mike Dean...... he's equally terrible.
I still think we could beat them, 1-0.

Re: Arsenal vs Man Utd
Why did I write 'it goes without saying' twice within a few sentences?
Was just wondering... should Oxlade-Chamberlain get a start? I'm not one one of those saying he's the next messiah who should start every week, but do Arshavin and Walcott (although he must start) deserve yet another go from the off? I know they were both involved in goals last match but recent performances from both have not been good enough.

Re: Arsenal vs Man Utd
Regardless of whether Sagna is fit to play he surely won't start? Would be far too short for this game. Vermaelen on the other hand only being out a few weeks is a different prospect, would be fantastic if he's at the level to start.
Szczesny
DJ Koscielny Mertesacker Vermaelen
Song Ramsey Rosicky
Walcott RVP Arshavin
I wish we had another option on the left, Gerv in place of Arshavin makes that team look dramatically more threatening. Realistically though I can't see Wenger starting Benayoun on the left or anyone else for that matter. At least we have the King to bring on at 65 minutes, where I'm confident we'll still be in the game.
I like the back 5 and I still have faith in DJ. I'll backing Szczesny to bounce back. Rosicky will put in a shift in midfield and I like the balance of Rosicky/Song. Ramsey, well he needs a spell on the bench but let's hope he can find some form in a massive game. Oh how I wish we could slot Wilshere in there for Ramsey.
What's news on Ferdinand? Is he out?

If Vermaelen is fit, he must start. The match fitness thing doesn't apply to Vermaelen. Hopefully, Arteta is back and we can have a good game. I'd like the Ox to start.

we will start well, concede before halftime 5min before or 5min after then be chasing shadows.sick of trying to be optomistic.
hope im wrong. Our team doesnt strike fear into opponents like it used too.but we are the sort of team that gets beat by Blackburn,Swansea but dick over Chelsea
whatever happens it can be worse than old trafford.........can it??

Re: Arsenal vs Man Utd
If Vermaelan and Sagna are back fit and ready, we'll beat them provided Van Persie gets adequate delivery from midfield.
I'm going to stay positive here and say that Walcott is going to absolutely terrorise their full-backs. He is due a great game soon I think.
I hope Arteta is back and 100%. Didn't realise we would miss him as much as we did last Sunday.
Our ability to win the the ball back and hold on to it is severely diminished when he isn't in the side.
Anyway, I'm going to go for a 1-0 to The Arsenal.

Re: Arsenal vs Man Utd
The Ox probably deserves a chance. He played well against Utd the last time and he looked pretty sharp in the last match he played as well. Wouldn't hurt to replace Arshavin or Walcott at the moment.
Re: Arsenal vs Man Utd
For the first time not getting excited for this fixture. We beat them, then lose the game then after. We lose and the it continues the way it is.... Getting all too predictable.
If Fergie can get Glazers to spend, then why cant Wenger get Kroenke to loosen it a bit. But we all know wengers ambitions.

Re: Arsenal vs Man Utd
I fear badly for us...I don't know the situation re. fitness, but our FBs are going to get massacred unless Sagna and Gibbs are miraculously fit again and match ready.
And Mike Dean is atrocious, just terrible.
United's midfielders are terrible but they won't need to be great to beat us. They'll just pack it and counter as usual.

Rather worried about this one. We are going in with a similarly depleted squad as we took to OT
