With the Australian Open coming up, I thought I'd make this thread.

Murray will do as he always does, piss on the low seeds and get roasted against the top seeds.

Re: Tennis
Murray won the Brisbane Open today. Won his last 3 matches very comfortably against Baghdatis (who he had a losing record against), Tomic and Dolgopolov. Wouldn't be surprised if he made another Aussie final, especially if Federer's back problem doesn't improve.
Tsonga also beat Monfils in the final of Doha. Really exciting times for these two, expect them to make another push this season, especially Tsonga. I wouldn't be shocked to see him reach a Slam final this year. Monfils also looked very good in beating Nadal in the semis. Obviously translating that to a Grand Slam in best-of-5 is a completely different story. Would be great for tennis if these two could make moves in the big events.

Having a top 6 bodes well for tennis! Still cant see past Djoko/Nadal for the slams though

Is Djoko over his injury problems though?

Re: Tennis
Well he's only played an exhibition so far this season, but he wiped the floor with Federer in the semis and destroyed Ferrer in the final.

Re: Tennis
Ah great to hear that. He was struggling against pretty much everyone at the end of last year when he came back from the injury. It would have been a shame if he lost all the momentum he had gained because of that.

Djoko was burnt out from after the US Open. No doubt he'll be fully rested and back on form next week

Re: Tennis
If Djoko returns to the kind of form he was in last season, tennis this year is going to be a blood bath.
Re: Tennis
I hope he is back to form. It should be about the others pushing to reach that level and not Djoko's level dropping

Re: Tennis
They've just done the draw for the Aussie Open. Some of the picks from what I can remember:
Murray vs Ryan Harrison
Tomic vs Verdasco
Djokovic vs Lorenzi
Nadal/Federer (in same half) vs qualifiers
Roddick vs Haase
Will wait until later (if I'm still awake) or tomorrow to see the full draw.

I'd love Djokovic to win it 6-0 6-0 6-0 with not one single point in any game for that Lorenzi guy.

Yeah always liked Verdasco. Will be watching this. It starts on the 16th right? Any time schedule out yet?

Noob question, but why isn't Soderling in this competition?
