Have to say, though, that was a really exciting match for the neutral.

Fuck it, Livpool will be filled with confidence against us
At least they played 120mins.

Will they be filled with confidence? They were forced to penalties by a Championship side, while we came back from 2 down against our biggest rivals and won by 3.

feeling really bad for cardiff.the expressions on their fans' faces reminded me of our carling cup final last year

If it's a confidence-off you want, then it's a confidence-off you'll have!
Clearly we played a better game against a better team (who also happens to be our biggest rival). They won the most meaningless trophy a team in the Prem can win against a Championship team in a coin flip (penalties).
Arsenal confidence>Liverpool confidence

Not that I disagree completely but last year when we had the CC final everyone was expecting us to win and then push on in the league as our squad would be very confident.

Doesn't matter, won trophy... now we're the only top 6 side not to have won anything for more than 4years.

Re: English Matches 2011/2012
What happened to the team that "beat" us in the CC final last year? They were relegated and are hovering around 7th in the Championship. Winning a trophy doesn't guarantee a lift in morale and won't necessarily push the team toward a good run.
To me, Liverpool's match today exposed that they're really not that good.

So what? The CC is such a nothing of a trophy that it really shouldn't count, even for bragging rights. We played a reserve team against Man City, for crying out loud. It's nice to get to a Wembley final, but I wouldn't count winning that trophy as the end of our "drought". Only an FA Cup, League title or CL would really be an achievement.

Don't get me wrong, I don't care much for the carling cup either. All I'm trying to say is that I'm sick of everytime I read about Arsenal in the media then it starts with the lines,"Arsenal, who have now gone 6-7 years without a trophy" or " Arsenal, who are without a trophy for 6-7 years now", etc etc. It makes me rage hearing all the media cunts always referring to it. Atleast the carling cup dispels that even if it is a nothing trophy...

It doesn't matter if its a nothing, it will give them confidence to push on and try to claim fourth. That's the concern.

Re: English Matches 2011/2012
For the bigger teams with big enough squads, winning the CC has actually acted as a springboard for the rest of the season. Hard to tell with Pool as they are hugely inconsistent and their prem form particularly at Anfield is a little odd

I really don't think this is an issue. In the immediate, I think we'll take more of a boost out of the NLD this weekend (we actually achieved something pretty spectacular this weekend, unlike Liverpool). We've been very inconsistent away from home so we may still lose next weekend, but I doubt it'll be down to a penalty win vs. Cardiff.
Furthermore, in the long run, I don't think it'll address Liverpool's deficiencies as a team. They are 7 pts behind us and Chelsea (with a game in hand, granted). They've clearly been weaker than us and Chelsea this year, more solid at the back, perhaps, but with almost zero-creativity (even when Suarez is playing, may I add). I think this season is over for them in terms of CL qualification, can't see us and Chelsea dropping that many points.

Re: English Matches 2011/2012
I have no doubt we'll drop a futher 7 points still this season going by our form throughout the season... Even big wins haven't generally spurred us on to greater things. Thing is though, liverpool will probably also drop atleast that much still for the remainder of the season, only a matter of who's least shit between us Chelsea and Liverpool for the remaining 14 games or so...

Re: English Matches 2011/2012
Yeah, by which I meant that I can't see us and Chelsea both dropping five points more than Liverpool. Honestly, I see it as a straight shootout between us and Chelsea, esp. if Liverpool don't beat us next weekend. Maybe Spurs will get sucked into it if they start dropping points too. Either way, I'd be pretty surprised if Liverpool make the CL next year.

Watching the Chelsea game is extremely boring. Hopefully it ends 0-0 like it should after having watched 24 minutes.
