Napoli vs Arsenal
7:45pm GMT @ Stadio San Paolo, Naples
Napoli drew with Udinese at home 3-3 in hopefully an exhausting game. Not sure about injuries, but they've had an extra day to recover compared to us.
Luckily we gave Ramsey, Cazorla, Flamini and Wilshire some time to rest on the bench against Everton. And also Jenkinson doing already deputising for Sagna who will remain out. I think we will go defensive considering Napoli will want to attack us for the win. May even have Theo starting to get them on the counter.
Predicted line up:
-------- SZCZ ---------
Jenk -- Per -- Kos -- Nacho
---- Flam ---- Arteta ------
---------- Ramsey ---------
Theo -- Giroud -- Cazorla
Bench: Rosick, Ozil, Jack, Verm

Re: Napoli vs Arsenal
On part of Napoli, heard that Hamsik is out for the game.
This is one of those games where we've potentially qualified already, but it still can't be taken for granted. Napoli are a decent side, but we have a good squad this year and given the situation, where we need to lose by 3 goals or more(highly unlikely), a bit of squad rotation seems logical given the teams we face in the next two weeks.
line up:
Szcz
Jenks Per Kos Monreal
Flamini Arteta Ramsey
Theo Bendtner Cazorla
Subs: Ozil, Rosicky, Giroud, Vermaelen, Wilshere, Gibbs
Starting Theo will be important as he needs game time, and his presence will either pin Napoli's LB or create us with chances on the counter whenever their LB plans to venture forward. Napoli will go all out for a big margin victory, hence I'm guessing we'll sit deep and try to play the entire game virtually on the counter. Topping the group would be fantastic, but I doubt there'll be many more opportunities to rest our regular players till the new year after this game. Predicting a 1-1 draw to take us through.

Re: Napoli vs Arsenal
That's great that Hamsik is out, but they still have the goal threats of Higuain, Callejon and Pandev.
I always predict that Wenger will rotate then he doesn't.
With Jenkinson at right back, he may see it as too big a risk to also bring Theo in. So Ozil may start. While Ozil is a hard worker, he has such a relaxed style that it possibly doesn't take too much of a toll on his body, so he may be able to keep going. Wenger said there is no one in the red zone.
The other choice is Rosicky or Cazorla. Hard to predict.

would agree starting with theo but would prefer if ramsey was on the bench. he is the most in form thing at the moment but im afraid he might burn out soon

Re: Napoli vs Arsenal
Walcott should start. He needs game time, Napoli will attack and we need him on the counter, so things can't get better for him. I'd like Santi to start as an opportunity for him to find some form in a not so important game, and I'd start Rosicky in the Man City game. Not saying he's bad, but I don't like Cazorla's recent form. He can do much much more than that and we know it. We must take this seriously, while it's highly unlikely to concede more than 3 goals, we're not playing some average team. Napoli can hurt us.

Theo doesn't start!
ARSENAL: Szczesny, Jenkinson, Mertesacker, Koscielny, Gibbs, Flamini, Arteta, Rosicky, Cazorla, Ozil, Giroud
Subs: Fabianski, Vermaelen, Monreal, Wilshere, Ramsey, Walcott, Bendtner

Pretty intense so far. Napoli testing us with balls over the top. The crowd is fairly nuts. And a helicopter hovering over the stadium. It's like war!

I think Theo may have been too much of a risk defensively, in combination with Jenkinson.

Lot's of pressing, some hard tackles, and attacking at pace. Will be a test. We need a couple of them to get yellow cards so they have to back off a bit.

Marseille equalise. 1-1.
Could see Marseille taking points of Dortmund considering Dortmund's injuries..

Re: Napoli vs Arsenal
napoli have got their tactics spot on, disrupting the flow of the game and some fast and hard pressing. we really need to control the game in second half

Maybe a couple of lessons from Benitez watching the Everton game?
It's an intense game. Good to watch!

2 very soft yellows for Arteta. A bit unlucky.

Re: Napoli vs Arsenal
Dortumund score making them first, us 2nd and Napoli third. Arrghhh!
Hopefully Napoli pushing forward might open up a chance for us to score.

We're through. 12 points and second place (on goal different) is quite respectable in the GOD.

Re: Napoli vs Arsenal
We could have finished first with more positive tactics but I'm not complaining. Thought our tactics in the first half were spot on but when they moved up by a gear or two, we didn't and it was a matter of time until we conceded. I'm looking forward to eliminating Barcelona or Bayern.
