Blackburn resting Samba and Yakubu for their game away at Newcastle today.
Raises the question: how important is the FA cup nowadays, when teams in Blackburn's situation rest their best players against superior opposition?

That said, Everton are playing a very strong lineup against Tamworth - Howard, Heitinga, Distin, Neville, Fellaini, Donovan all start. Although, to be fair, they do have a tiny squad.

Apparently QPR bid for Samba yesterday. 5 mil. don't think it was rejected. I guess that's why he's not in squad.

Do you think Blackburn would sell for only 5 M? I think they'd be able to get more easily if they really want/need to sell him.

Re: English Matches 2011/2012
Don't think Blackburn are in desperate need of cash to be selling their best players for that cheap. Just last season, they were bidding for Ronaldinho and Kaka, surely things haven't gone that bad since then.
Re: English Matches 2011/2012
The thing is, Blackburn's owners are very strange. If you have money it's not either Kaka/Ronaldinho or Yakubu. There are plenty of good players in between so it does not make sense to me how they are supposed to be financing star transfers to Blackburn when the club is in dire need of just good players (not necessarily stars, think Man City in Eriksson's time) in order to stay in the premier league. Something is not right with the owners.

I don't think they are, they are playing their best fit 11.. this same team played all season except for Livermore ( in for parker) and Dawson for King.

Its time to forget Spurs and focus on staying above Chelsea. Although Arsenal always do better when focusing on catching up to those ahead rather than trying to stay ahead, so...
Also, Liverpool end the game with 6 defenders. Craven.

We're never going to catch Spurs now. Especially as we won't be signing anyone other than Henry. Depressing.

Sorry but how exactly are Spurs lucky? I think we need to forget about them because they clearly have a better starting 11 than us and most teams in the premiership. If you are suggesting spurs are lucky because they are not getting injuries I can't agree. They've had Lennon out, two of their first choice centre backs in king and Dawson out and they've managed to cope well.
A lot of arsenal fans just write them off and say they will bottle it like every year but I don't see that happening. They're 9 points ahead of us at this stage of the season and will be looking to make a push for the title. We, on the other hand, will struggle to finish fourth and the fact that we probably won't buy another attacking player really doesn't help us. If wenger thinks Henry is going to solve our issues in the final third I'd be very disappointed. It looks to me as though that's what is going to happen.

Re: English Matches 2011/2012
What's really depressing is how we've allowed this to happen. Spurs don't have a sugar daddy owner, and Harry Redknapp is a fuckwit, and yet they've manage to reach our level and even surpass us now. I'm not talking about achievements or anything before someone jumps in and says we've been in the CL for 14 years running and whatnot, I just mean that the team and squad they've assembled this season is just better than ours and capable of more, plain and simple.
Of course people will say it couldn't last forever and that eventually they would finish above us, but at the same time, there was no guarantee either that they would improve and we would decline to the points we respectively have.
And yes, I know it's not over yet, but it's far more likely that they will finish above than beneath us and we'd be deluding ourselves to suggest otherwise. Pisses me off.
Do something Wenger, you have the money to improve us and all we hear is garbage about players like Kalou.

Joe Lewis is worth £2.8 bn...
They haven't had the most taxing of runs at the moment and they will have a poor run of form at some point. Unless they are so special they are a team like no one else in world football and are incapable of going through a poor run of form

Points Gained Since Sept 1st:
Man City 36
Man U 36
Sp*rs 36
Arsenal 35
Chel$ea 27
Liverpool 27
Orbinho posted this the other day (I think it was him) on twitter. Needs updating since the Fulham loss and Spurs win.
But it shows, that it is August that sees us where we are. Since then, we have been as good as the Top 3.

The games vs all the big boys are going to make the difference this year. Utd have a tough run coming up and Spurs have theirs in Feb/March, let's see the positions come then
