Speaking after completing his medical in Germany, Ozil said: “I am thrilled to be joining a club of the stature of Arsenal and am looking forward to playing in the Premier League. It will be great for my own personal development as a player and I am particularly looking forward to working with Arsène Wenger.
“From our negotiations it is clear the Club has huge ambition and I look forward to being part of an exciting future.”

Re: Mesut Ozil
With Jack, Cazorla and Ozil interchanging passes with each other, I think the dry cleaners are going to have lots of work to do this season with plenty of people constantly jizzing their pants. Amazing creative talent we have in the team now!

Not sure we'll see all three play that often. That's way too porous a midfield.Subrat Koirala wrote:With Jack, Cazorla and Ozil interchanging passes with each other, I think the dry cleaners are going to have lots of work to do this season with plenty of people constantly jizzing their pants. Imo, Cazorla and Ozil have to play. Jack doesn't at the moment.

Re: Mesut Ozil
Jack doesn't have to play? Disagree, and I think you are forgetting what he brings to the table. All 3 should be starting every game:
Walcott/Rosicky-Ramsey/Arteta-Wilshere-Santi
Ozil
Giroud

Re: Mesut Ozil
Wilshere and Ramsey leaves Ramsey doing too much work imo. Despite the opinion that Jack is tenacious and tries hard defensively, I don't think he's a good enough player to hold if the other player isn't a specialist holder. He's quite weak in one-one-ones and can be rash.
We'll see how it pans out, but I think we'll end up needing one of Flamini and Arteta all the time.

Re: Mesut Ozil
I think over 50 games in a season, we play our best XI in about 10 of them. Injuries, rotation, tiredness etc etc
So no point trying to fit them into the starting XI. They will all play plenty...

Re: Mesut Ozil
I think the past few seasons have shown though that AW puts out his strongest XI every time if he can. He doesn't rotate, so at some point someone will miss out.Jonathan Prendergast wrote:I think over 50 games in a season, we play our best XI in about 10 of them. Injuries, rotation, tiredness etc etc

Re: Mesut Ozil
If that is true, (that he plays his strongest XI as much as possible) it is most likely due to injuries.
But I don't think it is true. Ramsey played a lot on the wing earlier in the year. Diaby used to play on the wing. The Ox played over 30 games last season etc etc. Even Benayoun made 25 appearences for us.
We've never really seen Wenger with all players available. United and City have 4 strikers. Squads win trophies, not teams. I think they will all get plenty of game time.

Re: Mesut Ozil
Ofcourse he rotates! Maybe not as much as others but over the season rotating isn't really a choice, its a necessity.
I see Ozil playing as part of the front three personally, I don't see us changing our formation and the midfield doesn't lend itself to a player like Ozil I don't think.
I think Flamini is going to be AS important as Ozil I think he will play his way into the team, some of the others need to step up like Ramsey has done as places in midfield could get crowded.

Re: Mesut Ozil
Before Flamini and Ozil came, I thought our strongest XI didn't include Jack, not sure how it does now.
Ramsey Santi Arteta
Theo Giroud Poldi
was my favorite lineup.
Now it has to be
Santi and the better two out of Aaron, Arteta, and Flamini
Theo Giroud Ozil
It still doesn't include Jack. For all the quality that Jack has, he still doesn't give enough balance to the team.

Re: Mesut Ozil
Obviously depends on too many factors to pick a definitive best 11 but I have to admit that my favourite midfield line up right now would be Flamini and Ramsey sat slightly behind Cazorla, just for the work rate and defensive base it gives us. That combination must surely be one of the hardest working in the league.
Wilshere will come back and be a monster but right now, Ramsey is playing better than him and I would pick him ahead of Wilshere. Not sure where Arteta is going to fit back in after his injury, its going to be interesting.
