Re: Luis Suarez
Why Arteta likes Suarez:
“He is a tremendous player,” said Arteta, “And he has shown a lot of character to get back after getting really criticised and on the front pages a lot. He has gone on to produce some great performances and his goal-scoring record is amazing.
“It was very difficult for him because he had a lot of people against him and he was under massive pressure.
“Last summer when everyone thought he was leaving, he still came back and put in some great performances.
“I like players like this. When they are on the floor and everyone is on them they stand up and prove themselves and I admire that.”

Re: Luis Suarez
Why I rate Suarez:
During games, if one team has the upper hand, the opposition generally lose some confidence. They are even effected by who deserves to win the game.
On these occasions, it is typical to see a team/player miss 1 or 2 chances in a comeback prior to scoring a goal.
Suarez is totally seperated from who is playing well, which team is on top and which team deserves to be winning.
He is single minded, and it is all about scoring. He is almost robotic in this regard. He doesn't care what anyone thinks, or even pushing a team mate out of the way to score a goal.
When I have played with players like this, it lifts the whole team. Particularly when the team is down.
Arsenal need this.

Re: Luis Suarez
The only problem now is that we'll have to pay an astronomical transfer fee if we are to get him in January. And I doubt we can out bid Real Madrid(assuming they come for him) in the summer. As good as a player he is, I can't see us getting him now. Last summer was our best bet, and we saw how it played out.

We probably have more funds available than Real Madrid.Subrat Koirala wrote:The only problem now is that we'll have to pay an astronomical transfer fee if we are to get him in January. But I doubt Wenger would go to the amount needed to get Suarez. Probably 60m now? 70m?

Re: Luis Suarez
That would be crazy money for such a player. He's not Ronaldo or Messi after all. If we can get a good 20m striker or even a 12-15m one that's more than enough. Someone who is a better cover for Giroud than the lot we have right now.

Wouldn't question the move but even right now, he's a disruptive influence at Liverpool - they have no idea how long he'll be at the club.

Re: Luis Suarez
Even though he isn't a good guy it seems, there are a few of those that are so good at football it kinda overrides it. For me Suarez is one of those. Right now 40m for him looks like it would have been a bargain. Whenever I see him I think of a scene from Scrubs when Turk tries out for the Janitor's miming band Cool Cats...
“I don't know what it is, but he's got it.”— Janitor on Turk
“He's gonna be trouble.”— Lloyd
“I know. But he's so damn talented.” - Janitor

Re: Luis Suarez
Prediction:
- We draw Real Madrid in the Champions League.
- In January both clubs try to sign Suarez, and the winner is the winner.

well your first prediction didn't hit the mark but hey we got bayern munich. have i mentioned how surprised n happy i am to see bayern and guradiola shiny plate again.
i really hope wenger wil bid for suarez again. but dunno if we will be able to compete with real madrid. i think 50mil is the most we will go for (real can outbid that) also i think suarez will prefer real madrid. but having said that if we do manage to snatch him, we will have one of the most exciting team post invincibles

Any 10-15m striker would do for us. Forget the CL for now, let's focus on the league.

A smart play by Liverpool. Knowing the type of player Suarez is, he will want to join another team pretty soon, but at least Liverpool can make some crazy money by selling him.

Hopefully he had better better legal advise this time and the buyout clause is water tight from Suarez's perspective.

Suarez has literally been on another planet this season, he is unplayable! I can't believe he has signed another contract with LIVERPOOL!! Unbelievable!

Re: Luis Suarez
The contract may have a buyout clause. And pay increase in the meantime. I expect him to see out the season there.
Are Liverpool the real deal? I don't think they will win many games against the big teams, but they are good at walloping the lesser teams!

Re: Luis Suarez
here is a little bit of light hearted news.....
funny thing about it is the signatures its had in the last few hours going from 150 odd up to 1503 hahaha...anyway have a read and a chuckle..
An angry Arsenal fan has set up a petition to ‘free’ Luis Suarez from Liverpool, following John W. Henry’s comments regarding the striker’s failed summer transfer.
The Gunners’ infamous £40million plus £1 offer was rebuffed by the Reds, who claimed Suarez had no such release clause in his contract – contrary to what the North Londoners believed.
However, Liverpool’s American owner appeared to contradict that fact over the weekend, leading to one Gooner demanding that the Reds release Suarez from his current contract, apologise to Arsenal football club and hand over £4.5m as compensation.
After being besieged on Twitter by irate Liverpool fans, the @FreeSuarez1 account, who set-up the petition tweeted: ‘My dad is a lawyer and thinks because Liverpool has breached Suarez’ contract he can legally switch to Arsenal for FREE.’

Re: Luis Suarez
Now what with liverpool pissing away the best chance they are likely to get of winning the league begs a good question do we go back for suarez?
Something tells me he could want out of liverpool after all his hard work... His and a couple of team mates have grafted hard and the reward they get is just a champions league spot...
Will this be enough for him... I dont think it will...
We might have been smoking somthing over here mr henry but we are the ones in a final...
40+2mil should do the trick

Re: Luis Suarez
If they didn't see 40m enough before this season, they won' see it enough after it. It will take ridiculous money to lure him to Arsenal and I can't see us doing that. He can go to Real or PSG, the type of teams that or OK to pay that much.

Re: Luis Suarez
agree, don't really see him in arsenal, prolly real ... we have money in the bank but don't see us forking the kind of money that will lure him in. i'd be really surprised if we did another 40 or 50mil signing.
