Arsenal v Sunderland

Kick off Saturday 3:00pm Emirates stadium

Welcome one welcome all!!

It's here....it's finally returned,the season opener,

We have waited and fed ourselves on a summer of sport but the big one returns in the form of a home game at Sunderland,
A speculative filled break of the usual 'will he..won't he' sign...players departed, big guns signed...will they work? Will they slot in and finally after a barren period of silver-less past seasons lift us back to the heights of...where we need to be.

So much to look forward to regarding this game....how will we shape our team, this is where we will get insights to how our new boys will be deployed...after week and weeks of banter on here...a starting lineup will undoubtedly show a class we have not seen for a few years..

So here we go fellow Gooners.......may our season be blessed our players stay true the the badge on their chest...may come the end of this campaign our rights restored our foes crumbled and most of all....

May the trophy cabinet once shine.....

You bring a gun....we bring an arsenal.

Very excited for this one! I think we'll win it comfortably.

The starting line up is a difficult one. Will Arteta be fit? Will RVP/Sahin be here? Will Podolski start at LW or as a striker? Tough decisions for Wenger. I hope we keep a clean sheet.

Well as you know usually the topic starter usually adds team to start and Injuries....

As I don't have as much a clue as anybody else on who is going to start and even what formation we could see deployed...just gonna let this run its course and see how it sums up..

I can see us smashing Sunderland...don't know why..just think we could get off to a flyer here...as long as we win and keep a clean sheet and don't turn it into a harder game than it needs to be I will be happy!!

Come on you GUNNERS!!

We had better not pick up any injuries on International duties!

Based on my limited knowledge, we will be without quite a few players. Will have to pick from -

Szczesny, Diaby, Mertesacker, Vermaelen, Santos, Giroud, Ramsey, Song, Djourou, Coquelin, Arshavin, Jenkinson, Gervinho, Gibbs, Chamakh, Cazorla & Podolski.

Starting line up in that case would be -

Szczesny - Gibbs - Vermaelen - Mertesacker - Jenkinson - Song - Diaby - Cazorla - Podolski - Giroud - Gervinho

Bench - A.Goalkeeper - Arshavin - Chamakh - Coquelin - Ramsey - Santos - Djourou

You must have heard more than me because this is what I think we will line up with, small injuries to not go on international duty wont affect the weekend I dont think;

-----------------SZCZESNY----------------

JENKINSON-MERTESACKER-VERMAELEN-GIBBS

---------------SONG-ARTETA---------------

WALCOTT--------CAZORLA--------GERVINHO

-----------------PODOLSKI------------------

Im assuming Koscielny is injured, if anyone else is better informed on injuries I will stand corrected, but thats how I see it as it stands.

Is Podolski ready to start? After the FC Koln game I thought he mentioned needing 2 weeks to be 100%. If that's the case, I'd say Giroud, otherwise that looks like an excellent lineup.

I really am damn excited for this season!

by needing 2 weeks to be 100% he probably means he needs games to get sharp. He did play the longest against Koln meaning it was probably time on the pitch that he needed

Well its a lovely decision to make, Podolski or Giroud with Van Persie maybe making the bench, I think Gervinho is a shoe in, been looking great recently and I really think he will contribute alot this season.

My midfield looks sexy as fuck, love it!

This is the likely line up in my opinion. The back four picks itself given injuries, unless Arsene runs with Coq at RB, but I doubt it. Arteta is a certainty if fit (did he travel to Germany?) as is Song if he doesn't fuck off to Barca. Front 4 picks itself given the likelihood RVP is gone.

Any word on Kos yet?

Let's just hope van persie won't be clapping to the fans at the end of the game...well not in a way we don't want him to be.....

Personally I'd go something like Arteta, Rambo and Carzola or Arteta, Rosicky and Carzola

Just saw an injuries article and we have the most injuries by mile, once again... Well villa has the same but every other club has like 2 or 3 non 1st team players out at most...

Our injuries:
Arteta
Frimpong
Koscielny
Oxlade-Chamberlain
Rosicky
Sagna
Walcott
Wilshere

Maybe Walcott and Arteta might pull through, not sure.
