Santi Cazorla
I know nothing about him.
But apparently we have agreed terms with him.
On the basis that he is creative central midfielder, and 27 years old, I am happy with this.
While it may reduce game time for Rosicky, Ramsey and Wilshere in the attacking mid position, it is a key position for us.

Nevermind. I looked it up. But Malaga apparently have yet to agree to the deal.

Re: Santi Cazorla
For the benefits of others:
Agent says Arsenal agree terms with Cazorla
Normally Soccernet are one of the last to report transfers, and do so when things are more certain.
But since I started this thread, Wenger has said "No [we are not close]. Maybe we will sign a Malaysian player!". But maybe that's a good sign!

It looks like he would be our biggest ever transfer fee if we did sign him.

I don't know too much about him either, probably seen him play about three games. That being said I'm sure he would improve our squad, but personally I'd rather we saved that money for RVPs replacement.

Re: Santi Cazorla
I've seen him play for Spain a few times and a couple times in La Liga. Can't say I know a lot though. I have only heard good things about him though. And apparently he is very versatile and can play comfortably on the wings and in the attacking midfield role. Hopefully if we sign him then he is the creative spark we missed last season.

Re: Santi Cazorla
From what I have herd about him he is quite strong defensive as well...still say we need a defensive mid more than attacking but granted if we are shifting out the like of vela, bellendtner an co than attacking options would be needed....
Go get him Wenger....the more vp sees come through the door the more likely he would stay...

Re: Santi Cazorla
There seem to be plenty of conflicting reports coming out about Cazorla. Some saying Malaga are ready to pay off their debts and have no interest in selling, others saying its a done deal. Personally I wouldn't be surprised either way.
That said though, I would be super excited about this signing. Great player.

Re: Santi Cazorla
Read Arseblog's "By the Numbers" for him from yesterday. I have seen him play for Spain a few times but can't say I know him well. But think of it this way, if players like Arteta can't make it in the Spanish NT's midfield and he can, he's a good player. "Right" age as well. Arseblog says that he can play on both wings and in the middle, has a good record fro tracking back and tackling/intercepting balls as well. I can't but get excited for a player like him.

Re: Santi Cazorla
Right now, any player for the Spanish national team is good enough for me - even if they are on the fringe.
The more I read about him, the more excited I get. Sincerely hope this deal materializes.
And the M'Vila one as well.

Re: Santi Cazorla
So many contradicting reports regarding Cazorla but fuck I really hope we get him, would go some way towards replacing the creativity lost by the loss of fabregas, I used to watch him for Villarreal often a few years ago. Always excited me when he played, though my only worry is he's really short/small.

Re: Santi Cazorla
Excellent free kick taker btw. I watched a lot and I can only say he is pure class. Doesn't score a lot though but maybe he will i our system/style of play. Every commentator says that he is unlucky because this spain generation is so strong he doesn't start all the games. Plus, he played most of the qualifying games for Spain and scored a lot in those.

Yeah I should have said hopefully his technique will cancel that out as is the case with silva, modric and the like. But even so, silva and modric both took over a year to adjust to the Premier League. Knowing our fans, he'll probably be written off if he costs so expensive (+16mil) and doesnt hit the ground running...

If this player is as good as people say, we won't get him i'm afraid.

Also, wouldn't he have Barca or Real DNA after one good season? Bit sceptical on Spanish but I have heard he would be a REAL replacement for Arshavin.

To those who haven't seen him play he's like a more versatile version of Mata. There now you can stop dreaming about us signing him.

Arteta on Cazorla:
"I cannot talk about the actual situation, but I can say that I know him as a player really well.
"And he's a top, top player. He has got unbelievable quality and talent and that is all I can say."
