Arsenal Cognoscenti's Prediction Game

So I've taken a bit of initiative to help make the forum a fun place... Play along...

Welcome to Arsenal Cognoscenti's prediction game!

This is an out and open weekly updated, monthly and yearly summarized prediction competition.

The rules are simple and easy to follow.


Making a prediction


In order to make a prediction, one simply posts a reply in the thread with the game and score predicted, with additional info if needed (such as name of first scorer).
In order to make the competition fair and accessible to all fans and contributors in the forum, only the Premier League, the Champions League (starting 4th round) and the Euro 2012 competition are fair game.


Prediction types

Score: Prediction of the final score of the game. For a correct score, the prophet receives 3 points. For being correct about the winning team (or about the game being a draw), the prophet receives 1 point. For being wrong on both accounts, the prophet loses a point.


First goalscorer: If a person is correct in guessing the first goalscorer, he receives 5 points. If it's a false prophecy, 2 points are reduced from his balance. One can choose not to provide a prediction.

Player transfer: If a person is correct in guessing to which team a player is headed, he receives 3 points. Predicting is legitimate so long the deal is not announced by one of the clubs or the player. Only one prediction per player. False prophecy will reduce a point from the prophet's balance. If the player has already given indication of his transfer (such as Hazard saying he will "definitely be wearing blue next season", no prediction is allowed.

Scores will be kept in an excel sheet and a post containing the scores of the prophets will be updated weekly.

Once a month, an Arsenal-themed photoshop image chart of the top 5 prophets will be posted.

Once a year, a celebratory Arsenal-themed image will celebrate the top 2 prophets.


All technicalities will be taken care of by me. I just ask the admins to make this one sticky!

Quite like this, although I dont think you should deduct points for wrong score predictions, I understand that this will lead to the probably 'prophets' predicting the spanish third league results, but you will get so many people getting negative scores otherwise.

This is just a defense mechanism to make it fun and competitive for everyone.

It will lead to someone who predicts few games, but does that well, competing head to head with someone who predicts every game every week.

I also want to prevent winning-by-flooding.

- M'Vila to Arsenal (I assume there is enough uncertainty for this to be legit?)
- Chelsea - Bayern (CL Final): 1 - 3
- West Brom - Arsenal: 1-2

- Sunderland vs Manchester Utd: 1-2
- Wigan vs Wolverhampton Wanderers: 4-0
- Swansea vs Liverpool: 0-2 Suarez scores first

- Shinji Kagawa to Manchester Utd
- Yann M'Vila to Arsenal
