Re: FA Cup
Pissed I slept through Utd vs City though I needed it... United are very much the more beatable team though so probably better they made it through. Liverpool is an interesting draw although Pool with

Re: FA Cup
I think we really need to focus now on the FA Cup. With Man City already out, the team with the strongest squad is out. Hopefully, Man Utd lose in the next round to Liverpool. We could find ourselves on an easy path to the final, but we need to make sure we work hard and not lose our heads like we did against Birmingham. It's too early I know, but hopefully we can make it happen.

Re: FA Cup
Anyone think we could realistically win this thing this season?
I think its our only real shot at a trophy.

Yeah, I think we definitely can. However, the league is the priority, and I can see Wenger playing slightly weakened teams in the cup to keep people like RVP fit for the league. So, we'll need some kind draws.

Moreover we'll need a fully fit squad to have any chance of even making it to the final.

Re: FA Cup
So, Boro vs. Sunderland replay tonight. Hoping for a Boro win, Sunderland have been excellent in recent weeks. Also, avoids the "2 games in a week" scenario that always seems to heighten tensions.

Re: FA Cup
1-1 at full time. Perfect, if Boro go on to win. Easier tie, and the possibility of playing some tired legs on Saturday. Good good.

That is a pretty hardcore schedule. And worrying.

Re: FA Cup
Can't rule anything out, unfortunately.
We just need to beat Sunderland this weekend, game at a time and all that. After that, the next two games aren't must win, they're just 'must not lose'.

Re: FA Cup
After 120 minutes they will be shattered whilst Arsenal have had a weeks rest. Not saying it'll be easy but that makes saturday's game easier.

Re: FA Cup
blimey, it's all happening at the Bridge. Birmingham lead 1-0, Mata just had a penalty saved. Not even 30mins in.

Yep. To be honest, the only thing that makes me think we could nick fourth is how astonishingly bad both Chelsea and Liverpool have been this season.

Re: FA Cup
Watching it again, it's amazing how the interpretation of what constitutes a penalty has changed. Players always looked for it but now their diving is so blatant and so unrelated to the idea of "fouling" an opponent.
It's difficult to understand how referees don't see this.

We've been on the receiving end of a few this season (Swansea, Milan on Wednesday).

Re: FA Cup
I didn't see Milan's penalty as in the same category.
Djourou was in Ibra's way and blocked his path with his hands. He was inviting Ibra to fall over.
The B'Ham player today and Ivanovic against Man Utd moved towards the player but made either no or very little contact so no foul was commited. The Welbeck imitation foul was even better. They've always been innovative cheaters but that took the biscuit.
