Summer transfer window
Thought i might start off the transfer window for this up coming summer..
A little early i know..
Michy Batshuayi has admitted that he expects to leave Standard Liege and has picked out Arsenal as his favourite team as he sets his sights on a transfer to either England or Germany.
Belgian striker Batshuayi, 20, has caught the eye with a series of sparkling performances this season and is currently the top scorer in the Jupiler Pro League with 18 goals.
He has been linked with a number of teams, including Arsenal and Everton, and concedes that it could be time to move on this summer for the benefit of his career.
Batshuayi has previously made it clear that he would be interested in playing in the Premier League or the Bundesliga, and he has always been particularly impressed by the way Arsenal develop young players.
"I don't think I will play for Standard next season," Batshuayi told RTBF.
"I want to move on. Maybe I will think about a longer stay if we play in the Champions League, but I want to progress as a player.
"My preferred destinations are England or Germany. If you ask my favourite team, I'll say Arsenal.
"It is a club with a good philosophy, where youngsters get their chance. I've been an Arsenal fan since I was a kid."
Batshuayi has a contract with Standard until 2018, with a release clause understood to be worth €8million.

Re: Summer transfer window
Arsenal will have a £100 million transfer budget this summer but it is now expected that Arsène Wenger will wait until the end of the season before signing a new contract.
The club remain extremely confident that Wenger will extend his deal, probably by three more years, but there is a growing acceptance that he will not interrupt his preparations for the final two months of the season to deal with contract negotiations.
Wenger has indicated a definite desire to stay in talks with Ivan Gazidis, the club’s chief executive, but has always said that results would determine whether he felt that it was right to sign a deal that would take him into a third decade at the club.
Arsenal are favourites to win the FA Cup and so end a nine-year wait for silverware, while the derby win against Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday also means that they remain in contention for what would be a third ‘double’ of Wenger’s tenure.
The flip side, however, is that failing to win a trophy from this position would arguably amount to the biggest single disappointment of Wenger’s 18 years at the club.

Re: Summer transfer window
Striker striker striker striker striker!
Then we have the right back problem if Sagna leaves. We also need 2 center backs. 1 necessity if Vermaelen leaves and another if both Vermaelen and Sagna leave as Sagna is our 4th choice center back. The midfield is good enough and the flanks are quite good if no one of note leaves. Diaby will be like a new signing.

If the first team squad stays as it is I think We clearly need a Striker, I also think We need a left sided forward and A DM.

Re: Summer transfer window
To accommodate Fabregas, we'd either have to change our formation or sacrifice one of Ozil or Ramsey. Or we could shift Ozil to the left, which would be a waste.
Not saying I wouldn't want him back at the club - just that he shouldn't be the priority this summer.
Like every summer, the first task is to keep the players we have. From the present first team squad, Sagna, Fabianski, Viviano, Bendtner & Kallstrom are not likely to be at the club next season.
Add to that list, Vermaelen and Podolski (to a lesser extent) - wouldn't be surprised if those two wanted to leave as well.
We were already a centre-back short this season, so might need to bring in two centre-backs as well as a right back in the summer.
Two goalkeepers likely to leave, so add another goalkeeper to the list of players we have to bring in.
Already 3-4 players.
Another area we can improve is adding a top-class defensive mid-fielder. As much as we like Arteta, he just isn't a good enough defensive mid-fielder for a team which should be challenging for titles.
Atleast one striker, preferably an improvement on Giroud.
Last area we can improve in is getting a quality left-sided winger. Not only will it give us more options but a pacey winger would also come in handy considering the amount of games Walcott misses through injury. Haven't looked up the numbers, but i'm guessing it would be a fair few.
Thats 6-7 players already - my guess is Wenger / the club will take 2 to 3 transfers windows to get all the players we need in.
Here's the funny thing - we will most probably end up signing another attacking mid-fielder

Championship Manager Vs Reality.
CM: RB - Aurier, DM - Lars Bender, Winger - Griezmann, Striker - too many options to list.
Reality: No new DM, Like-a-new-signing Diaby to provide competition for Arteta & Flamini. So we're most likely to see a RB, a back-up goalkeeper (Almunia v2), a new striker to replace Bendtner (not displace Giroud) and an attacking mid-fielder.

" his tally to 8 goals in 10 league games. It has been thought that Arsenal has taken an interest in purchasing him and Harry Redknapp knows he is leaving in the summer transfer window." - (straight from wikipedia) so must be true.

All i want in the window is the team back fit injury free....
It will be a late window for everyone signing... World cup years wait til way after the tourny has finished... Could see the usual world cup prices too....

A certain carlos vela is now flashing about transfer pages saying we could pay just 4.3 million to secure his services.... He was good for us when we had him and was a fans fav for his goals and efforts... He has racked up 15 goals and 11 assists this term in la liga..

Re: Summer transfer window
Carlos Vela no! Fabregas, just for the sentiments yes. But, good as he is, he was the captain of a grade A bottling team. Not that it was all his fault, he was very young with lots of responsibility and the team wasn't good enough. But he didn't do much in big games either. I'd love us to get a good striker, a good, solid right back as Sagna's shoes are very big to fill, and two center backs. Out of the people leaving, I'm sad to see Fabianski and of course, Sagna go. We need another goalkeeper as well, and an energetic DM wouldn't be bad. I wasn't convinced with Flamini and preferred, as Wenger, Arteta over him throughout the season, but Arteta has his own limitations as well, as he is getting quite slow (still love him though). So all in all, a striker, a right back, probably two (backup would be fine) center backs, and a DM.

If we had beaten Villa & Stoke instead of losing,
we'd been 2nd.
Steal 2 points from the away game trashings and we'd
have won the bloody thing.
Fine margins urgh!

Re: Summer transfer window
Morning all!!!! There is a lot of talk coming out of spain that Real could be looking to finally do a deal with us to free up some funds for suarez... Paving a way for arsene to finally get hold of none than other Benzema....
Its no shocker that we need a world class out and out striker and after many a year wait we might just might see ol benny boy in an arsenal shirt at the start of the season!!!
This deal has huge potential as its no secret Real want Suarez wenger wants Benzema and both parties would welcome the deal all be it the sweetner in the go around would be we have his old team mate Ozil and that liverpool and and a certain owner Mr Henry might just have to pop over to the emirates to bag something to smoke to calm the nerves of loosing a golden player........
So Real its over to you.... Start slapping it in the papers you want Suarez and hand over Benzema thank you please....

Re: Summer transfer window
benzema??? i dont really watch spanish football except check out their table. i know at one point wenger wanted him real real bad but is he the solution to our deficiency.
like i said, i havent seen much of his play but him being a tall, big guy ... is he like giroud??
i'd rather someone similar to aguerro or suarez who not only have the finishing touch but speedy and can drrible and drive in who can create chances. right now we just play off giroud.
