Re: Movies
My favourite part was in the bar where you see Daft Punk DJing. That whole scene was quality.
I have to get around to watching Drive at some point. I've not heard anything bad about it which is a rarity

Saw Mission Impossible 4. It wasn't very good.
I also watched Waste Land a couple of weeks ago. That is a really good documentary. Highly recommend.

Re: Movies
Watched 'The Hot Chick' last night. I don't know why I didn't just watch one of the thousand better films there is out there but I'm ashamed to say I chuckled aloud once or twice. Low expectations = No disappointment.
Still horrendously awful though.

Drive is a great movie! Ryan Gosling is so badass in that and the soundtrack, storyline, acting... all superb.
Watched Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy over the weekend and I must say it is one bloody confusing piece of work. Really well acted (Gary Oldman is superb) and some of the cinemetography and symbolism is intriguing... but holy hell was the plot a nightmare to put together. Lots of characters to remember, lots of subtle "espionage-like" information for your mind to sift through, and the medievally slow pace of the film doesn't help much either. It's been recommended by many critics to read the novel first so you actually know wtf is going on but that takes the fun out of it doesn't it? I enjoyed the film and would recommend it if you know nothing of the book and want an intellectual challenge.

The soundtrack was quality. One of the best things about that film, along with Jeff Bridges going "radical maaaaan" randomly at one point. Two of my favourite soundtracks with recent films are Tron: Legacy and Drive.
Haven't seen Drive but Inception should be up there.

Yeah Inception had a great score. You expect that with Hans Zimmer, he's quality at what he does. He also did the recent animated film Rango which had some great music in.

Does anyone know the name of Morgan Freeman's movie? The one which is in prison? It's really a great movie and I want to buy the DVD.

Re: Movies
I want more space-based sci-fi movies. The best I've seen for a while now is Event Horizon but surely there are others out there.

Prometheus should well suit your desire then. Hard to go wrong with Ridley Scott.Alan Dawson wrote:I want more space-based sci-fi movies. The best I've seen for a while now is Event Horizon but surely there are others out there.

I'm really looking forward to Prometheus. I'm hoping it's a 'jump out of your sit and shit yourself' type film, like Alien was.
Alan, have you tried 2001 space odyssey?

Just seen Shame, the new film by Steve McQueen, with Michael Fassbender and Carey Mulligan. Breathtaking, but very upsetting.

Re: Movies
Just downloaded a film called 'Nude Nuns with Big Guns'. I must be onto a winner. Surely?
This is the storyline
'Upon taking her vows to become a nun, Sister Sarah is abused, brainwashed and drugged into submission by the corrupt clergy. On the verge of death from a lethal dose of drugs, Sister Sarah receives a message from GOD telling her to take vengeance on all those who did her wrong. Armed with God's will and an arsenal of big guns, she dispenses Judgment Day on her former tormentors. When the church hires the merciless motorcycle gang the "Los Muertos" to track down and kill her they soon realize that this SISTER IS ONE BAD MOTHER.'

That's like asking: 'Does anyone know the name of that Tom Hanks film? Where he's a bit retarded, and he runs across America?'
Shame on you!
