As captain, he should have his say in things. He had every right to do so. Who cares about what's left of confidence in Arshavin? Let him fuck off to wherever he came from.

For a while now we've shown we're in danger of becoming the new Newcastle of old. Deluded fans who think the team is better than it is and the club has a higher stature around the country, kingdom, continent just because we have a shiny stadium that we can fill. We're not a title-challenger side, we're not a top four side, we're just not. We're a decent 4-6 team. If we got fourth spot it would be an incredible achievement but judging from the first half of the season it's just not happening.

Like John says, all the problems we're experiencing are sadly too familiar. Plagued with injuries, consistently tactically inept when it comes to substitutions (they're actually game-changing for the worse now! last weekend was an exception), glaringly obvious gaps in quality in the first XI, lack of quality squad depth. I do think we need to buy though, yea, not all our problems can be solved by throwing some money around, but some of them can be.

Orbinho % Goals conceded from
shots on target - 1. Man Utd
22% 2. Man City 23% 3. Spurs
24% 19. Arsenal 39% 20.
Blackburn 45%

How the hell is it that we concede so many from S.O.T?? Something is seriously not right here...

there's only so much we can do with the average squad arsene and the board have created this season. the first team is brilliant but its never going to play with our injury problems and we have nothing outside it. you can mention all our injuries but united have had plenty this year but have strength in depth to account for them. the 2nd half performance was decent based on the quality of the squad we have. need a MASSIVE rearrangement in the summer to remove the crap and bring in quality but it won't happen. those at the top have allowed the quality of the squad to fall too far. never expected a result today judging from our last two performances but I'm left frustrated considering how we were playing after the equaliser only to be cut off by the ox substitution

Wenger fucked up the game big time. cash on Arshavin now.

Also we seriously lack creativity in midfield and without Arteta we have absolutely nothing. Yennaris should start ahead of fuckin Djourou.

Yes, that substitution was ridiculous. It's been said before, but it's sad how far Arshavin has fallen since the Anfield game. It really is time to let him go. It is worrying how much faith Arsene has in Arshavin and how often he goes to him.

I dont think utd's fringe players are significantly better than ours. I just think those guys genuinly fear fergi and that they might lose their place at such a great club. By us on the other hand, i don't think Wenger 'gives it' to his players after loses or dropped points so our players believe that its ok to not put all in cause nothings gonna happen to them. You can clearly see this in our many lacklustre performances from our seconds team over recent years, while at united every player busts a gut every single game they play.

yeah , that attitude is evident on these boards Alan. People posting videos of The Invincibles and commentary about spreadsheets on how great we're going to be because we have our finances sorted.
I don't blame them, today was pretty good evidence of the mediocrity on the field and off the field. Bad decisions all around. The first half was excruciating, going forward and defending. Who wants to square up to that and really look that in the face? Lets talk about 10 years ago, and 5 years from now instead.

He was good for a year and has since either been a mix or utter shit. He's not an athlete, something that's always been obvious, so if he's not providing any cutting edge up top he is therefore worthless. Those goals at Anfield and Old Trafford underlined how cleanly and powerfully he shot the ball, something he has never replicated since. When we lost 3-1 to Man Utd in early 2010, he had already lost his shooting boots. He had almost all our chances and fucked them all up. Now looks a poor signing for £15m.

I'm sure we got that £15m back in the CL, cause we would without a doubt not have qualified if it wasn't for him.

I had a think about it and i guess its kinda true. They were once both one of the best in the world and now they're shadows of themselves. In torres' case, he's now a shadow if his shadow. But still.

You could put it all down to injuries for the last 3 games.
We have given up the lead (or draw) almost instantaneously.
You could say it's because we have had to play 4 cb's, no real fullbacks.
But someone explain to me how we can change personnel in the squad almost completely and still capitulate after scoring, or in the closing minutes year after year ...
Last year we dropped out of the the title race. This year 4rth might be too much. Through injuries among other things , we just do not have the quality in the squad to sustain.. ...we are threadbare.

Wenger is the Torres of coaching is true, for the exact reasons Jason Morrison mentioned. Wenger had far greater career longevity, Torres was near enough a one-season wonder at Liverpool but had a decent spell at Atletico. Since that one good season he has been perpetually woeful. Same with Wenger since, what, 06.
