Always love some difficult groups. I like this world cup already! Just hope Brazil don't win it.

We (Australia) have a tough group, with Spain, the Netherlands and Chile.

Luckily we play Chile first, with a chance to get 3 points, then try and snatch a draw from Spain or the Netherlands. But our team is much weaker than previous world cups, with likes of Emerton, Bresciano, Viduka, Kewell, Neill, Cahill past their best/retired.

The groups this coming WC are fantastic. While there are a couple 'group of deaths', I'm particularly looking forward to group C. I expect a dark horse to emerge from that group(either Japan or Ivory Coast). Have supported Argentina from the time I can remember, and would love to see them win the WC in South America itself. But their defense is one area that's a bit concerning and might be their undoing despite the abundance of attacking talent.

If the team with best 5 attackers gets to win the World Cup, Argentina would be a shoe in.

Haha, one of my Croatian mates put a status on fb: Brazil don't open the World Cup with us, we open the World Cup with them... Should be an interesting World Cup Smile

World Cup Draw Empty Re: World Cup Draw

A couple months ago when I first started thinking about who to bet on to win the World Cup my immediate thoughts were Germany or Argentina, with Uruguay as a dark horse. But I think the setting/climate favours Argentina over Germany. Though like has been said here... the attack is second to none, the but defence makes them vulnerable. Which is odd as individually their defenders seem pretty rock solid. Zabaleta for me is probably the best right back in the Prem and I've only heard good things about Garay, Fernandez and Otamendi.

I still think they'll win it. Messi has to win a World Cup like Maradona to convince some and I think this World Cup will be the one.

Colocini is decent too at Centre Back.

Mascherano is key I think, as he can provide stability in midfield.

Why do people forget Spain of all teams? Sure, Germany, Brazil, and Argentina all have their chances, even Uruguay, but the Champions are still very strong. I read somewhere that they can field 4-5 different teams and still look very competitive. Imagine what their strongest lineup would do.

Spain would be favourites, tempered by the advantage for South American teams being on their continent.
