Right now, I would have to say Rosicky and Mertesacker. They are at the top of their games.

If I had to choose, due to the Dortmund game, I would say Mertesacker.

Special mentions to Ramsey, Ozil, SZCZ and Arteta.

Right now I would say 95% of the team has been outstanding and upped their game..everyone is having a part in keeping these wins coming....just to think what we still have to come back from injury.....

Have to agree with Michael. Everyone is more or less in form bar maybe Cazorla. Szczesny has been excellent and has kept 3 consecutive clean sheets against 2 top teams and in a game where we had 10 players, Sagna is Sagna, Per was a monster against Dortmund and Koscielny was a monster against Liverpool, Gibbs is having the time of his life except maybe yesterday, where I thought he deserved a 7.5 instead of the usual 8, Rosicky was a beast yesterday, Arteta was a beast against Liverpool, Ozil is simply class, and what's so good about him is that we know he will produce more as the season goes on and when Theo returns, Santi was great against Liverpool, not so much yesterday, but he is getting back, Ramsey, what can you tell about him? Giroud will never score hat-tricks/solos/stunners, but the things is, you know what to get from him, hard work, commitment, headers, lay-offs. They're all playing well, even the ones who are not so in-form.

I thought Giroud, Ozil and Ramsey were in better form earlier in the season.

Gibbs and Sagna too.

Agree overall team understanding has improved.

Close down the thread!

I listed Rosicky and Mertesacker as our 2 most in form players. And they both get the flu and miss our biggest game of the season so far!

We have a lot of in-form players but you rarely see one making a goalkeeper pray as he dribbles towards him.

Mertesacker. It's not his presence that's always applauded, but his absence makes our transition from attack to defense and vice versa a bit disorganised. Cazorla is slowly coming back into his form as well. I think the entire team is clicking well together most of the days.

Now it could be SZCZ?

Mertesacker still a good shout.

I would definitely agree, Szczesny. With Mertesacker grabbing the headlines, I must say I think Koscielny has been the better of the two in the last few games (still equally good).

Mertersacker for me is the one that keeps the defence in good shape, organised and reads the play, allowing for any mistakes by our other defenders. In many cases, there is no need for last ditch tackling or brave header, as he has already removed the danger through positioning or pushing a player wide.

He's kind of like Sun Tzu - Art of War: “The greatest victory is that which requires no battle.”

Koscielny's full worth is in games up against gun skilful and mobile strikers. He is so good up against such players with the ball on the ground one on one. He still has the odd crazy moment, but his anticipation has also improved and he gets to many balls prior to the striker. His passing is also exceptional. Has been since he arrived.

I haven't noticed as much in the past 2 games, but will keep an eye on him against Cardiff.

Koscielny and Per were both excellent today, equally good, again! Szczesny once again very good, same goes for Mikel.

There you go Jonathan! It seems we can't choose between Arteta and Flamini so here is our answer:

It feels funny that I am not on Arteta's side, as I have been backing him since he arrived!

It's just that Flamini is so good for the team.

The stats say Arteta passes more and tackles more.

I personally don't think tackling is a good stat, as tackles are a last resort, and often does not result in a transfer of possession to your team. The best defenders sometimes rarely tackle.

It probably is true that Ramsey or others have to come a bit deeper to get the ball from Flamini. Flamini certainly takes the approach of giving it to the attacking guys a lot quicker, where as Arteta takes a more active role in building the play with his passing.

Flamini's strength is organising defensively, being very proactive, pushing players on, pushing himself on and passing players back to the centre backs.

It's great to have both.

Ramsey back to our most in form player I think. His pass to Jenkinson for the Bendtner goal, and the assist for Ozil, were brilliant. Plus 2 goals against Cardiff.

The clean sheets keep coming however, and our defence has held out pressure at key times. against Cardiff in particular.
