Finally, but we can't but respect the man for what he's achieved.

Wow this is big news, wonder what's gonna happen now, think they'll go for Mourinho possibly since he's always wanted thr man.utd job. But it's about time, he's like 71 years old and this can only be good for all of their rivals and as much as I hate them and dislike him, he only has my respect for all his achievements and how big he's made man u. All the best to him.

As much of a whingy moaning hypocrite he could be, he is still the best manager I've known in my lifetime and I have nothing but resdpect for him.

I think Man Utd may struggle to adapt without him at first. Player-wise their squad isn't that great compared to other teams, it was his drive and passion that fuelled them, without him it'll be interest how they do next season.

Mourinho has a reputation of going to a club, staying for a few years and moving on. I don't know if Man Utd would want that. Moyes/Klopp would be more stable and longterm probably.

A bit harsh, dont you think. Somebody who has achieved so much and been at helm for 27 years. Nobody can deny his management skills in controlling difficult personalities, get the players fight for him on the pitch. He fucking knocked Liverpool off the perch.

Ferguson had the luck at the right time. The young crop of '92 coudn not have come at a better time. Those years when Liverpool dominated, it was unimaginable the ManU could ever overtake them. With the introduction of PL and CL, United were enjoying success at the right time. Despite of all the success Liverpool had earlier, they could nowhere garner the money which was pumped in the 90's. This was one of the biggest reasons why ManU's era of domination was kickstarted.

Luck has it's place in football, just like also in life. 2-1 against Bayern, Bergkamp missing penalty in FA Cup, Terry slipping etc. are just part and parcel of the game. In many ways, Wenger has also had big slice of luck to qualify every season for CL.

i dont deny what he has done for united...but as you said alot of luck came his way and money....that he shouts about other clubs with...

liverpool did what they did through hard work and sod all money....

one argument would be his management skills with difficult players came somewhat different...shipping them out when they stood up to him is by no means anything to shout about (no pun intended)....

What about what he achieved at Aberdeen, winning 10 trophies including 3 league titles and a Cup Winners Cup, was that luck?

aberdeen were his finer days.....the man did well there..united and him may have sat well and won a whole load of titles and cups but it seams in a lot of eyes and minds he ravaged that club for what?....

look at the state of it now......he has gone aging players throughout the squad club in shed loads of debt squandered out to the stock exchange where one bit of miss fortune or bad problem could shred that club to bits...left a squad that will need rebuilding with what money?...players will leave...hell i think he only grabbed hold of rvp so he could get one more title stick up the fingers to city and say i took it back now you wont be able to have a swipe back now i am fucking off....it seams to a good few out there the man has taken so much for personal gain...we all know the ego he has and it fits well....

Great manager, it can't be denied. Our complete lack of competition with his side over the past few years has left me rather disinterested really in regards to this though. If this had happened ten years ago I'd probably have more to say about it and care a fair bit more, but now? Meh, all I really care about is hoping this makes United shite as quick as possible.

Also think they won't be so great next year. Many of their players are average or just above it, players that only red nose could motivate to sweat for him, the likes of Welbeck, Young, Cleverly, etc. Also think smaller teams will now face them and perhaps have a bit of a go unlike before where everyone just rolls over for them. Unless they spend big, I'm struggling to see how they'll retain the title next year.

In defence, they've won the league despite missing Vidic and having quite a young line up. Players like Fafael, Jones, Smailling and Evans will only get better next season.

I think they may be a bit weak in midfield. Carrick is very good and consistent, but Anderson, Scholes and Giggs are doubts.

In attack they are pretty blessed if Rooney stays. RVP, Kagawa, Valencia and depth with Young, Nani, Hernadez and Wellbeck.

The views on arseblog about his retirement are pretty spot on. Credit where its due, for his achievements and relentless will to succeed but hardly a likable guy, it seems he’s getting turned into one just because he’s retiring which is a bit annoying, especially as a big part of his success came at our expense.

I hope not. I think he will not win anything in his first two years then if Manchester United stick with him, he will start winning. Remember, not long ago, there were some of us who wanted Moyes as a replacement for Wenger.

agreed we called for moyes....but i think we will hold out for something better

he will have a tough first season no doubt man city will spend the likes of us,chelsea,spurs will look to bring in something a bit special the thing is next season will be a battle ground and man united's season could go any which way...start losing to the teams in the bigger patch and the walls of trafford become all to easier to scale...pick up a bad run of results and the knives will start being poked in his back...makes me wonder how long before the fans start calling for his head.....its the champions league that leaves me with mixed thoughts on how he will do and getting the team to play.....i think it could be the area if let down where it starts.....that said i do wish him well always looked at him as a good manager dealing with limited funds and so on getting the most out of what he had to work with...
