Ha!
John, in another thread you had made mention of exactly when you started to question Wenger's sanity.
For me it was the Silvestre signing, signalling the beginning of the era of last minute headscratching stopgap transfers- Squillacci, Andre Santos, Park Chu Young among the other notables.
Love this quote from Silvestre's wikipedia entry ( poor bastard, usually player's own wiki entries are pretty neutral):
"After the 2009–10 season, Silvestre was released by Arsenal and became a free agent. He reportedly had offers from Fulham and Kayserispor, but instead signed for Werder Bremen and said "This is a great new adventure for me, there were other offers, but Thomas Schaaf and Klaus Allofs fascinated me."[17] In October 2010, Silvestre came under criticism from Werder Bremen sporting director Klaus Allofs, who commented that "[Silvestre] has been a disappointment at left back, his playing style is remarkably slow and he makes many mistakes".

Haha I love his reactions. He briskly walks away from the first goal/mistake and looks back quickly as if thinking "walk away quick and maybe they'll forget it". After the second goal/mistake his reaction is just "ah fuck...".

How does that cross get by Silvestre? How? This is the worst half of soccer I can remember from an MLS defender, maybe ever. Seriously.
