Arsenal v Swansea Empty Arsenal v Swansea

Post by Michael Foster Sun Jan 06, 2013 11:35 pm

FA cup third round.
13:30 KO
Liberty Stadium.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger believes winning the FA Cup - and ending the club's eight-year trophy drought - would give the current team an "aura". "There is a change of course, there is an aura around the team that is built through the history of the team. That makes them feel strong together. "It is an energy that builds up inside the team that you sense, that is linked with the success that the team has achieved. It is the same the other way around - you only achieve if you really believe, so it is always a vicious circle."

I hope we can shake off this little hold Swansea have on us at the moment...bit of a tough one to call today fa cup anything can happen..being arsenal....anything can happen....

While it's our only hope to win something, I still wouldn't mind resting some key players.

Theo Walcott starts for Arsenal, with Arsene Wenger naming a strong side. There's no Lukas Podolski in there as Olivier Giroud starts through the middle.

Bad news for Swansea fans - There's no Michu in the Swansea team as Danny Graham keeps his place up front. Michael Laudrup has rested a few, with former Arsenal man Kyle Bartley starting at the back

Vorm, Tiendalli, Chico, Bartley, Davies, Britton, de Guzman, Ki, Routledge, Dyer, Graham

Never thought Id see the day when Swansea rest more players than us in the FA Cup

Walcott's goal scoring this season has allowed him certain privileges on the pitch he wouldn't have had just last season. Both Cazorla and Arteta are better set piece takers yet they let him take that free-kick earlier.

As I expected. Arsenal struggling, Swansea defending very well (they always do against us). We also seem to be coming down with Perfect Goal Syndrome again, taking two too many touches every attack and seemingly obsessed with scoring pretty goals rather than just taking a shot.

"Arsenal have had two shots on target in the last 135 mins, both from outside the box."
