Watching the highlights from last years Malaysia XI game, Vela sure was comedically good at chipping goalkeepers (while failing to score in any other fashion)

Great little win there, poor in the first half and really looked like we're still in pre-season mode. Stepped up in the second half with lively performances from Ryo, Eisfeld, Yenaris and Afobe.

Typical Diaby performance, looked good in patches but still looks really unfit, or not match fit.

I don't remember him being 'unplayable'. Against Barca he had a good game, serviceable, but not that good. He seems to me the kind of player who dominates once we are 2-0 up. Otherwise, he embodies the fragility we had in 2010, but hiding once the going gets tough. I won't be pinning any hopes on him being a key player for us that will ever see us win anything.

Against West Ham in the FA Cup game when he came on, Ramsey scored and no one famous died. In 2010 he had such good games.

Santos had a good outing in yesterday's game. Probably a bit worrying that he was the only source of creativity in the entire first half. I know this is just a fitness exercise but I won't be too confident heading into the new season with Diaby in charge of the midfield with the way he played.
Jenkinson also had a good game, didn't see him get caught out of position even once.

Seems like we have a good understudy to Sagna in Jenkinson, really liked the majority of his performances last season given he was thrown to the wolves very early on.

HOPEFULLY Sagna can have a bit better run with injuries this year and Jenks doesn't have to play such a big role.

Jenkinson will have to start the season at right back wont he? Sagna isnt back in training until the end of August so Jenkinson will probably be there for the first 5-10 games so he needs a good pre season under his belt. I too think he will be decent in time, but right now he isn't what I would call a good Premiership defender and could cause us some problems in our opening games I think.

Can anyone who watched the last game tell me where Chamberlain played? I have a feeling he might play central midfield at the start of the season due to all our problems there.

He played in the midfield three. Song, Aneke, Ox.

Ideal, I think we will see him in there to begin with considering we are currently without Lansbury, Wilshire, Ramsey, Rosicky and Frimpong.

We are going to start the first game at the moment only with Arteta, Song, Diaby, Coquelin and Chamberlain I think, wouldn't want to be any shorter.

Chamakh had a mare. Don't think he even had one shot on goal.

On a side note, what will happen of Aneke this season? Has been quite decent whenever I've seen him play. A run with the first team for the first half might be a good idea especially given the injuries we have.
