Senna is confirmed as Williams' 2nd driver for 2012.

Bit of a surprise, but it'll be good to see him get another season, has shown some promise, and hopefully Williams will be a bit more competitive than last year.

AT&T dropped them, they don't have a title sponsor, Senninha brings Embratel sponsorship, and Senna in a Williams is a marketing dream.

Sure, that makes sense.

Durrell wrote: Senna in a Williams is a marketing dream.

It's certainly an intriguing parallel, but is it a marketing dream? Surely all the connotations relating to Ayrton Senna's time at Williams are totally negative?

No such thing as bad publicity though. Williams will always be in the news one way or the other, means exposure for the sponsors.

How good is this years RBR going to be?

Are there major rule changes this year?

No exhaust blown diffusers, exhausts have to exit out the top of the sidepods.

Cars have to pass crash testing before they go testing (so essentially race spec from the get go)

Pretty much all I can think of at the moment

Renault. They'll have to start from scratch as they had the most aggressive exhaust/floor layout with their forward exiting exhausts

I must admit I mostly used to enjoy watching F1 as a kid...but a lot of talk lately regarding the set ups and changes with cars and drivers has hooked me in a little...
One of my friends is an F1 nut already planned days watching it over beers...lol

I used to be a formula 1 fanatic. Ferrari meant as much as Arsenal to me. With all the regulation changes, it became disgusting. I watch it sometimes, when it's at night and I'm not at the beach. I go to the beach every Sunday.

I'm surprised no-one posted this, but a few days ago Caterham were the first team to launch their new car. Pictures are here: http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/formula_one/16727904.stm

So, are all the noses going to look this blocky, due to the rule change? Pretty ugly.

I forgot I hadn't posted it here. My bad (although my bad is saying my bad)

And possibly. The max height of the nosecone has been reduced to reduce the possibility of hitting the driver when the tub is T-Boned. The max height of the tub itself stays the same though, so there is always going to be a weird step between the two.
It's aerodynamically better to have the top of the nosecone flat, and high up to aid airflow to the floor. I'm holding out hope for someone pulling off a mid 90s style low nose, but it's unlikely. Also means much tighter packaging of the KERS batteries and motors.

Watched a bit of the launch today. Was kinda dull. At least the McLaren doesn't have a horrible nose like the Caterham.

HRT have chosen Karthikeyan.

Lots of decent drivers without a seat this year, then. Sutil, Alguersuari, Petrov, Barrichello...

Is Karthikeyan any good? The Indian media have hyped him up to be the next big thing in F1 but I haven't really heard much about him apart from him winning a couple of local races or test driving for Jordan.

Karthikeyan is 35 now, past his peak, and his peak wasn't all that high to begin with. The only reason he made it to Formula One back in 2005 is because he was bringing serious sponsorship from TATA, which he is doing again. If he was from a country with a bigger talent pool like the UK or Brazil, he wouldn't even have made it to F3000
