Shame both Sagna and Santos were injured. They could have walked in there (and we'd be in a much better position as well).

Team Of The Year Empty Re: Team Of The Year

Post by Mike York Mon Mar 26, 2012 9:50 pm

Manchester United striker Michael Owen maintains Robin van Persie is a 'stand-out winner' for the PFA Player of the Year award this season.

The Gunners' skipper has been on form this season scoring 26 league goals so far to fire his side to third in the Premier League above rivals, Tottenham.

David Silva is 4/1 second favourite behind Robin van Persie with Sportingbet to win the PFA Player of the Year award.

The Manchester United striker revealed who he has selected for the awards via his Twitter feed: "Player of the season so far? I went for Robin Van Persie. Stand out winner in my opinion.’’

Team Of The Year Empty Re: Team Of The Year

Has to be Robin. David Silva has a better team around him and has still faded quite a bit in the last 2 months.

As for the team? I still find it a bit pointless to do it now before the serious part of the season begins! The same can be said for the actual player of the year, too, but I think this year we can crown him now, everything considered.

But my team will probably look a lot like everyone's on here.

Year's not over yet, but this should be fun. I'll for an Arsenal-esque 4-3-3...

Vorm
Sagna - Kompany - Koscielny - Baines Assou-Ekotto
Song - Y.Toure
Rooney
Aguero - Van Persie - Mata

I've gone for Rooney just behind RVP, because I think he can play there. RVP can also play there, but he's been outstanding right where he is and I'm loathe to move him. Mata has 10 assists from the left, that is perfect. But I envision a fluid formation - All of the front 4 can play where Rooney is right now, so in my ideal team there would be a lot of interchange. Song and Yaya in the midfield, because Yaya is excellent going forward and back, and Song has those killer passes. Sagna and Baines providing width to a team which lacks it slightly otherwise.

But yeah, as Mario said, it's a bit premature.

EDIT: Assou-Ekotto instead of Baines. Haven't seen Baines play too much this season, and I don't want to pick him on reputation alone. BAE on the other hand has been quite good in a league with few quality left backs. I really wanted to pick Santos, but his injury means he hasn't played enough games.

I'm surprised Bale hasn't appeared in anyone's team. He's not consistently delivering the goods but he's had a very decent season so far; definitely one of the main reasons for their recent ascendancy.
